  • Start to Finish on a 2009 Silver Mitsubishi Lancer

I recently purchased a 2009 apex silver Mitsubishi Lancer. Right after I bought the car I rushed out a bought a few Meguairs products. I picked up some car wash solution, tire shine (spray bottle), Ultimate Quik Detailer, and Wax (NXT).

Could someone go through the process on what products to use and the steps I need to take to go through the whole car washing "cycle".

The big thing is I really want this silver to POP right out. Please make any suggestions for techniques and additional products I may need.

    Thank you!

    If your working by hand:

Gold Class, Deep Crystal, or NXT Car Wash
    Smooth Surface Clay Kit
    ColorX
    NXT 2.0
Hot Shine Tire Shine on tires
    Ultimate Quik Detailer to maintain.

When washing you want to use good quality washing/drying tools, 2 bucket method, grit guards etc.

You probably need to clay your car, use the quick detailer that comes with the kit and obviously use one clay bar as well.

If your working by hand then a good way to prep the paint for NXT 2.0 is to clean, polish and protect the paint, A12 Cleaner Wax or ColorX are easy to find and work well. Plus you get your first coat of wax on.

The put on your second coat using NXT 2.0

Use Ultimate Quik Detailer to maintain after future washings

then use your tire dressing to dress the tires.

Are you working by hand or machine?

Okay so the first step is to wash my car.
Second step is to then clay my car and/or use a SwirlX or a ScratchX product
Third step is to then polish my car
Fourth step is to wax my car.
Fifth step is to maintain using QD.

Does this sound correct, would this be doing it in the right order? Also, how often do I need to do each of these steps? I wash my car weekly, but how often would I use scratchX, polish and, wax? Now does the polishing step really make a big difference and what product is recommended?

        1. Wash - Gold Class, etc...

        2. Clay - Definatley clay, Smooth Surface Clay Kit

        3. Clean - SwirlX... UC if needed, but you didnt mention major swirls

        4. Wax - Nxt 2.0

        5. Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

        6. Maintain - UQW is great after future washes, and UQW is great for removing bird droppings, water marks, etc

In theory, the cleaning/waxing should need done every few months, if you UQW for each wash. The ScratchX should not be needed often, unless you or something is somehow causing swirls in your paint.
