  • Little Chips in car paint after using tech wax 2.0 paste?

    Hello Everyone,

First I want to say thank you in advance for any and all help you can give me. I just waxed my 03' Mitsubishi Lancer with NXT Tech Wax 2.0 paste. I started waxing at 2:00 pm and Started removing the wax around 2:45 pm after I covered the entire area of the car. I wiped off wax using a microfiber towel. I moved my car out of the garage around 6:00pm and wanted to make sure I removed all wax. In the sunlight I started to notice a ton of little tiny paint chips that were not there before I started waxing. The majority of them are located on very front of the hood but there are still tons everywhere else. Any specific reason of why this happened? Also, is there anything I can do to get rid of them or prevent it from happening the next time I wax? At the rate I'm going, 5 more waxes and I won't have any paint left. Also, I didn't use any prep products just washed last night, kept it in the garge and waxed this afternoon. Thank You again.

Kyle, I think I can safely say that waxing with NXT did not create the chips you are now seeing in your car's finish. Either they were there before you waxed, and you simply did not see them, or some hard particle was trapped in your pad or towel and you accidentally instilled the chips while either applying or removing the wax. My bet is the former.

Can you provide a photograph of your car so we can see the problem?

I have to agree. You wouldn't get paint chips from using wax.

Okay for pics? I think you've not done your preparation properly, sorry to say,or the wax has made this noticable.

I tryed getting pics but the darkness blurs the scratches. I'll try tomorrow when the sun is out again. What should I do next time for prep so this doesn't happen again? I heard something about using a clay kit? can you just give me a list of things to do for prep prior to next time? Thanks guys I really appreciate your help.

hi,firstly,it sounds like you have made some scratches,or they were there before and the wax has enhanced them.Let's hope nothing to serious! you mentioned that you left the car overnight before waxing. It doesn't matter if it's in a garage.better than outside yes,but anything could've fallen on your surface within that long period.

          Pics would help here.

          Start again.
you'll need at least these items:Good quality car shampoo like gold class, soft gel or nxt.good quality sponge or mit.at least a couple of packs of applicators,a 3 pack of supreme shine microfibres and a waffle weave or chamois for drying. The clay kit with quik detailer. SwirlX,or scratchX2.0(ultimate compound is a bit more aggressive than these two).If it's just light scratches, then one of the first two will probably do. A good wax like NXT tech wax2.0,deep crystal step 3 carnauba or gold class.

          1]Wash your car and dry.
          2]clay it,with the supplied lubricant,QD
          3]use the swirlx or ScratchX2.0
          4]Apply the wax
          5]maintain with ultimate quik detailer.

If you're not sure about any of the above steps, ask which step you are not sure about and we'll help you out.

Well I've never heard of waxing creating chips.
The chips had to have been there first, especially the front.
The wax just filled them in and now you can see them.
We really need to see pics to make sure what is going on.
