  • Maintaining a "Show Car" shine?

My car is in "show car" condition ( was just painted and is maintained by me) but as time goes on im starting to see small amounts of light scratches, what is the best way to prevent these? oh and whats a light "compound" i could use on the entire car to remove these light swirls ?

    #9?

    Thanks in advance,

    Wax will prevent light scratches.
NXT is very nice and durable.
    Is it a "show car"?
    As in "only for show"?
    Or a daily driver?
Try ScratchX, you can find it any ware.
You might have to be agressive with it, but it will work.

    Here's the scale of products:
Most aggressive to least aggressive -->

are you working by hand or machine?

Sorting them you can, prevention is more difficult.

If your car is in a showroom condition, you must be using good quality microfibres and taking a lot of care when washing, drying, polishing and waxing.

Unfortunatley, swirls, soft scratches will build up with time.If the car is dark in color, they'll be more noticeable.

It's just down to your upkeep on how severe they get over a given time.

Really, your only prevention is using good quality cloths and working in an environment which is as dust free as possible.

Try something like either M82 Swirl Free Polish or M80 Speed Glaze on your PC with a SoftBuff 2.0 Polishing Pad. If you need a little more bite, then maybe try M205 or SwirlX.

Oh my, what a gorgeous car! Congratulations!

As far as prevention of swirls, the most important thing you can do is to attend to your wash techniques. You are no doubt already acquainted with the two-bucket method. You might check out these two articles:

                  Accumulator's Non-Marring Wash Technique
                  Supe's Touchless Wash Method

As far as a maintenance polish, Tuck's recommendation of M205 or SwirlX sound right. If they do not remove your swirls, then move up to Ultimate Compound.

                  Cheers,
                  Al
