Is it ok to use ultimate compound and swirl x before wax, and follow that with crystal polish before applying wax? Any help or ideas for best results?

Sound like you have a good plan of action. Just remember least aggressive to most aggressive. If you get the same results in your test spot with the SwirlX that you do with the Ultimate Compound then I would recommend useing just the SwirlX then your polish and wax. The real test is in the eye of user. Do not forget to claybar.

      Welcome to MOL!

As mentioned, you should wash, clay and then use something to remove swirls. The Ultimate Compound is fantastic, but might not be necessary depending on the condition of your paint (UC is great at removing severe oxidation and scratches). As Sleepy said, go from least to most aggressive... If the car is in reasonable shape, you'll be able to only use SwirlX and then go directly to wax; The DC Polish won't hurt anything, but if you're in a hurry it will be fine to omit that step.
