  • Meg's Pro line Equivalent

Hi,I'm starting to get quite a bit of Meg's stuff now..Just got a bottle of UQD today and next week's coming Techwax2.0..Soon i'll be thinking about a G220.

Anyway, the pro line products are not to be seen here. For quite a while,I've been using 3M's finesse, and like it.

What would be Meg's equivalent for that?

At least when I read threads,I'll know what type of meg's product was used for a particular situation.

Hi Tuck,It's a cleaner/polish.It's the only option I've got.It seems to work quite well on swirls by hand.A machine is recommended.I've been reading through the pro list, and 'think' it might be similair to #9?

        I would think #6..

Most items marketed as polishes are cleaners..as they remove very small amounts of clear..#6 is a mild cleaner and can finish well..

I had another quik look at the product list..#6 cleaner/wax.This is about the only pro product that I can get my hands on round these parts. This one is a pro product for bodyshops...1L container or a quart, more or less.

The amount of megs consumer goods is getting better.

Comparing different brands can be difficult, but as long as i get an idea of what people are meaning on the forum when discussing the Meg's pro line products.

              yeah,thanx!

When I said : "I had another quik look at the product list..#6 cleaner/wax.This is about the only pro product that I can get my hands on round these parts."

That might have been a bit confusing.I meant getting a hold of the 3M polish.....

Just in case....although,I reckon you gathered that..

As long as I can get the consumer goods,i'll be happy!!!!

SwirlX would probably be a better comparison to the 3M, at least as far as hand application goes.

#9 wont do a whole lot by hand.

Eddie, check out this webpage: is this the 3M polish to which you are referring?

I searched through Autopia for the 3M Finesse-It II Machine Polish. From the way folks are describing it, it sounds likes a medium-cut polish, stronger than, say, M09, M82 or perhaps even M80. If I'm right about this, then the equivalent Megs' polishes might be M02 or M01 or perhaps M83.

M06, on the other hand, is specifically a cleaner wax, though it might work very well for your purposes. A somewhat stronger cleaner wax for you to consider would be M66. But as Mat notes, SwirlX might be a better polish for you, if you can get it.

What Meguiar's polishes and waxes are available to you?
Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

                    Hey,

If you are referring to 3M 05928 Finesse-It II Finishing Compound, then that is much closer to M83. It cuts very well, and leaves a really glossy finish. The only downside is that it can get a little dusty.

It does behave like a medium cut polish.
Waxes are not a problem now.I can get the tech wax 2.0 now.In the past,i've always used the DC 3 carnauba, but is not available in Italy? In fact the DP 1,2,3 is not available here at all. It's not in any catalogues here.I've still got gold wax from the past aswell.
As far as the polishes go,the swirlX 2.0 will be arriving soon.SwirlX is not listed here, and I didn't see UC either.
Just out of interest,I did see colorX.
Europe is a bit behind with these products, but it's getting better...That's why I keep nagging!!!!!
