M39/M40 help

Hey guys, I am going to Detail my whole exterior of my car tomorrow just want to make sure I got this down.

Wash with dawn one time only>Clay>Polish>Wash with Gold Class>Wax.


Were do I fit in M39/M40, I know M39 can strip wax so it has to be before then. Maybe m39 after the polish before the wax then M40 after the wash before the wax?.

M39 and M40 is used for rubbers and vinyls. 39 being a heavy duty vinyl cleaner and 40 being a light cleaner and conditions at the same time (AIO).

M39 and M40 are not for the paint. They are for use on plastics, tires, interior trim, rubber seals, and things of that nature. You can use M39 to clean your tires and M40 to dress them if you'd like. Any pics of the exterior of your car so that we might point you in the right direction?

umm.. I know this already did you even read my post?

OK, I think I gotcha. You didn't make that specifically clear in your post - I thought you were wanting to use them on your paint. In that case, the only thing you really need to use M39 on on the exterior is the tires (before the Dawn wash, provided you don't already have a dedicated degreaser or tire cleaner) and then use M40 to dress them (after the Gold Class wash). Hope this clears things up!

have you ever used m39 or m40 its in a spray bottle meaning it will go every ware did you read my post?

I know what M39 and M40 are there for my trim and rubber items on my car please stop telling me what I know. I am simply asking when is the right time to use them during a wash!

a better answer but I am not going to use it on my tires, I have rubber trim next to my windshield and on the roof near the doors, and the rear glass as well. Which is near the paint. I want to clean them. But based on your answer I should use M39 before my initial wash then M40 before the wax?

I'm just trying to assess your needs so I can help you figure out what you need to do. You're only going to want to clean trim pieces with a specific cleaner if they are really grimy. If they're just normally dirty then skip the M39 and wash them with your regular car wash. Please keep in mind that M40 will not last real long on the exterior - it's better to have a product dedicated for exterior trim such as Gold Class Trim Detailer or Mother's Back to Black. If you do feel an absolute need to dress those areas with M40, spray some of the liquid on a piece of a sponge or foam applicator, apply it to the area in question, then wipe off the excess with a dedicated microfiber.

after you wash your car would make the most sense, that way any loose dirt or dust is gone and you have a clean surface to work on.

Just use them after you wash. It doesnt matter really when you use it, as long as the surface your working on is clean.

I usually dress my exterior trim while my wax is drying.

I have Black to black, I have wax/polish stains on my trim. So I can do M39 before the initial wash. my car was actually washed a few days ago so, I can just use M39 now. After I wax Ill use Black to black.

I see your point now. #39 after polishing and when to apply the #40? , as Tuck91 mentioned, both should be fine. Important part is to work on a clean surface. Applying both the #40 on trims and waxing at the same time should be no issue as long you control your application parameter.

Sorry I got to this one a little late Danny....but your process is just about right. Use the M39 after the initial wash prior to claying. After you have washed the car (post-polish) you can apply the M40 or Mother's Back-to-Black while the wax is drying or at some other point post-final wash. Some people apply the Back-to-Black or M40 before waxing so that if there is a bit that gets on the trim it can easily be removed....up to you.

np. I just cleaned all my trim just now with M39, Before waxing ill apply Black Black/M40
