  • How would you clean this up?

I have Aluminium CCW Classics with powder coated centers.

I got my car detailed, but there is lots of traces of grey gunk on the powder coated centers. I tried using meguiars hot rims for aluminium and it got some out, but its not able to clean it completely.

Any tips or suggestions on how to get the rims completely cleaned?

See the grey colored gunk buildup in the 3 shots below.

    Thanks

Trying to spray a stronger chemical onto the wheel could lead to damage to the wheels. Looks like it's time for some elbow grease, or finger grease.

Use car wash soap with a soft cloth and then use a finger or two to gently wash the dirty portion.

After you do your best to wash the dirt off with a wash cloth, next you can try using a light cleaner/polish, paint cleaner or even a cleaner/wax to get what's left. This would be taking a finger or two and using your fingers behind either a foam applicator pad or a piece of soft cloth, going in and hand cleaning each of these openings.

If you use a cleaner/wax it should clean off the road film and leave the paint clear, shiny and protected. If you use a paint cleaner or a cleaner/polish then be aware neither of these leave behind any protection.

Do you have any products for cleaning and polishing paint?

OT: What wheels are those on

I'd go with what Mike says, a soft towel and lightly rub it.

                  Hi Mike,

I've already tried using Gold class soap with a microfiber cloth as well as with a brush and it didn't help much. Then I sprayed some Hot Rims Aluminium and started easy but ended up doing some vigorous scrubbing with the cloth and brush but again with no luck.

Which cleaner/wax should I try as a notch up?

                  Tx

Heavily diluted Simple Green (20:1) or so with water, and a good polish/wax

If all else fails you could try some Meg's Clay and QD as lube. Try a small spot and see if that helps.

I think that could also work too RG.

I think the problem was that he used a metal polish on a powder coated surface.
