Which product for door side panels?

Hi all, please see the pic and recommend if PlastX would be a good product to maintain the shine. I have tried ColorX works good but not sure if I am supposed to use it on this or not. It seems like Colored plastic with high gloss.

Might give you an idea about working on clear plastics...

PlastX is intended for removing scratches and oxidization from clear plastics,such as headlights etc.It is a polishing compound.

Practically all vehicles have those plastic panels on the window frame.

You just need to use a plastic trim detailer.Something like 'Natural Shine' would be fine here.

What kind of plastic is it? What kind of car are you working on? The plastic panels on my uncle's '96 Explorer were rather faded and I took them from this:



to this:


using Ultimate Compound. Yes, you heard right, Ultimate Compound. This is what the pad looked like after I was done:


So, you might try that and see if that works for you. Hope this helps!

I like gold class trim detailer. I couldn't find it in stores so i ordered it from ADS (autodetailingsolutions) for $3.75. Since then I have found it at my local NAPA auto parts store for $6+ dollars. Such a great product with an even greater price!

I have used Ultimate Compound and 105 on those parts like cierasl did with the same good results. Im thinking M80 would work just as well

Can I use UC on the black gaskets, will it come out looking like the side panels did?

I use Gold Class Trim Detailer, if it's plastic
If it's paint try a few different compounds to see what it likes.

No, you would want something like the Gold Class Trim Detailer for the rubber.

Sounds coated, I would try a dab of PlastX
