    Re: I felt shameful today...

Remember how I said there were no swirls on my car? I lied. Jersey hasn't seen much sun lately, so I guess the swirls have been hiding. It has been cloudy/rainy for the past two weeks, and will be like this for the next two weeks. But today I caught a glimpse of the sun and ran outside at work and took some pictures of the car. There are lots of swirls... Here they are! Can I use SwirlX, M7 and M26 on the plastic tail light cover too or is it only for paint?

If your doing this by hand, it's going to be quite a bit of work... Is that the newer SwirlX 2.0? You are going to have to work in very small sections, like 12x12 and work the product in pasionately then remove and inspect. It may take more than one application in that area and depending on how effective it is. If this isn't getting the job done, then you might want to try the Ultimate Compound, but give the SwirlX 2.0 a try first. It's going to be slow going by hand, but if you want to remove those surface defects, that's what it's going to take. Yes, those products are safe on the lenses, but after SwirlX 2.0 you can skip the M07 on the covers and go straight to your wax.

If you find that it's taking longer and more work than you want, you may want to invest in a G110.

P.S. I can't stress enough about working on swirls especially by hand in a small area, if you have trouble, shrink the work area, quoted from the soon to be former Meguiars employee, Mike Phillips!

I'm not sure, I asked my local shop to order SwirlX for me from their warehouse, so I'll get whichever they have. But I'm thinking it's most likely SwirlX because if they had both versions, they'd ask me which one to order. And yes I'm doing all this by hand! The greater the obstacle the more feeling of accomplishment when I'm done Now I just gotta read those articles on how to apply SwirlX.

I need to correct myself, I misinterpreted SwirlX with Scratch X 2.0, which SwirlX is milder than that. you will just need some good clean applicators and a strong arm and work it in with passion and inspect... Good luck and take pictures!

Heh, this is one of those times I wish I couldn't say "I told you so" because it means you have some work to do, but, well, I told you so

On the bright side, this will be a wake-up call to be extra careful when you wash or touch the car in the future to avoid the swirls as much as possible.

As for your second question, yes, you can use those products on the plastic. Keep in mind they are not tested or developed for the job, so use a test spot before doing the whole thing, but many people (myself included) use traditional polishes on tail lights with great success.

I'm probably going to do a test spot first with SwirlX, if that doesn't work, I'll pick up Scratch X 2.0. The store is 0.2 miles away from my house, so buying/returning won't be an issue
And how much "passion" should I use?

Haha, I will remember to wear gloves next time I want to touch my car

Well, like your life depends on it? haha, somewhere there's a video of Mike Phillips using Scratch X by hand and he has a good go at it. You will need to spread it in the area and work it with the applicator with some effort until the product has broken down and ready to be removed, thus why I said a small area and then inspect. I really don't know how to explain it, but passion is the right word...

Wish you the best of luck!
