Stupid June Gloom

I had noticed some bird dropping etchings a few days ago that I had missed on my first detail a couple of weeks ago, so I decided I'd go out and take care of them.

The ScratchX 2.0 with a yellow foam applicator knocked those bad boys out nicely without a whole lot of work. There was a scratch on the tailgate I tried getting, but the ScratchX wasn't strong enough, I thought about trying some UC on it but decided it wasn't that noticable and didn't do it.

Well, I went to put some NXT 2.0 over the areas I had worked on, let it dry, come out to do the swipe test, it's sprinkling just the slightest amount. So much for that wax. Oh well, I'll wait until after I wash my truck tomorrow, hopefully no sprinkling then.

Hi, I understand everything up to a point.

You used scratchX.....Okay,happy with results. found it wasn't neccessary to use UC on the scratch....okay.

What's the problem with the wax, 'sprinkling'?

I think he means raining (sprinkling) prevented him from waxing.

Sorry, it started sprinkling outside, which pretty much screws up the bond of the sealant to the paint.

Yes,that is unfortunate.That's the fun of detailing.Try to pick a day when you are certain it won't rain.

Right now that's tricky here in California. Normally we can go several months at a time without any rain at all, but this year the weather has been very strange. VERY strange! We just aren't used to it here. Spoiled us.

I've been caught out a couple of times myself.I live about 30 miles from the coast.Most of the time in the summer here it's hot and dry.If a strong wind picks up,i'm pretty sure that it'll rain in the next 15 mins or so.At least i've got an advance warning.

The last time I did a full detail on my civic,about three months ago,the weather wasn't quite settled yet.I had to do the washing and the claying one day and stop because of rain.Wash again the next day,polish,then it rained again.Then i finished up on the third day.It can be a bit frustrating,but you have to take the good with the bad.....

I am three miles from the beach in West Los Angeles and it's sprinkled every day for the last week. The "June Gloom" climatic condition is peculiar to So Cal and it's been here every June since I started caring about it. And I've lived here since 1953.
Thank God for a garage.

It seems like it always rains when I am finished detailing my vehicles. lol.
