  • Chamois Conditioning??

After watching countless videos on You Tube from Meguiars or Using Meguiars Products, when they dry the car with the Soft Touch Microfiber Chamois, it always seems to glide across the paint effortlessly. But every time I go to dry, that is not the case. Since I love my Truck and try to keep it in the best shape possible, when I wash it once or twice a week, and wax it about every month or two, I know my wax can not be the issue. I was wondering if anyone knew how they got the chamois to glide so effortlessly?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Keep it somewhat "messy," or semi bunched up, rather than open as it then tends to drag.

    Hope that helps.

        Hi Carfire,
I actually had the same issue with the chamois.
I had a cheap chamois from the supermarket, thinking it was good, I said to my brother "hey this chamois is pretty cool, it fully sticks and picks up all the water!" and he was like "ummm that's not a good thing!"

So I went on the hunt for a Meguiars chamois, and was excited when I read the back, and it said it didn't drag across the paint, I thought "yay!" but when I used it, it didn't behave any different to the other chamois I have used. I used it as the instructions said, by holding the corners, but it still dragged across the paint, I expected it to work better after paying $24 for it.....but I trust that even though it's dragging, it's not damaging the paint?

While I do not use the Meg's Synthetic Chamois, I recently purchased the P21S version of a synthetic chamois and I do not like it all for the same reasons mentioned above.

It was a lesson learned. I'll stick to waffle weave and regular microfiber towels for drying.

I think my problem was I start with my chamois dry, so I got it wet first with water, and it worked great!!
But thanks all who helped,, it was much appreciated!!

I don't know about all the varios types of chamois. With a natural chamois, you have to wet it first and wring it out.You can actually see when it has absorbed all the water it can take.

Yeah my dad's been using chamois for years and that's what he does. I'm not a fan of chamois though.

I want to try conditioning with QD. It works for water magnets but I usually just use those. The soft touch was kind of an impulse buy.
