How can I get off the old adhesive from an emblem? It's pretty thick, it looks like double sided foam tape or something. Would Goo Gone work and be safe?

Re: Removing Emblem Adhesive
I would also be interested to know some tricks for this. I had a car recently that I couldn't fix. It was like the goo was baked on in the California sun (that was where the car originally was from). I tried Goof Off and it didn't even budge. I had a plastic scraper of sorts and the goo was shredding up the scraper!"Do the job right, or don't do it!" - Dad

Re: Removing Emblem Adhesive
Hey,
The best I have found is 3M Adhesive Remover! It works like a charm!
But if it is hardened, then you may have problem. If the 3M product does not work, you may need to carefully sand the adhesive spots down to the top of the paint and then buff it out. This is only advisable if you have sanding and buffing experience as it is easy to create a bigger problem... Have you tried actually heating it and then using an adhesive remover?

Re: Removing Emblem Adhesive
I have used a product called Prepsol with success. It is a wax and grease remover (solvent cleaner) - I'm pretty sure there are a few different brands out there of the same thing.
This was for a freshly removed emblem. Also, you'll need to polish / wax the area where you've used it afterwards.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Re: Removing Emblem Adhesive
I used a hair dryer when I tried mine. I got about 2% of the goo off with that combined with Goof Off liquid vigorously rubbing with a terry cloth, just about burning my fingers because the paint surface got really hot."Do the job right, or don't do it!" - Dad
