  • product okay after freezing in garage ?

I have some Meguiar's products that I got about 2 years ago and they got left in my garage this last winter, which had several single digit temp days. I would like to know if they would still be okay to use, or could they do any damage if I used them ? I have a 03 Acura TL-S in nighthawk black pearl.

    The products are:

    All Wheel cleaner
    Hot Shine tire foam
    Nxt Gen Speed Detailer spray
    Scratch X
    Deep Crystal wash

    thanks

Shake them up real good. If they separate right away and do not maintain their normal consistency, then you probably need to replace them. You can view the MSDS sheets for the products in order to see what they should look and smell like and what the recommended storage temp is.

The odds are against you since they froze.Do what Ciera sl suggested. It is the only way to find out for sure.

          Good question!!!

As you know, water freezes at 32*F or 0*C. However, detailing products contain chemicals and/or products for lubrication during a polisher application thereby effectively changing the freezing point of the product. So while one product may freeze close to or at 0*C, others may not.

Either way, it is suggested that all detailing products be stored away from freezing or even close to freezing temperatures. If the product has froze and subsequently separated, if shaking the product does not return it to a uniform consistency, then the product is no longer any good and needs to be replaced.

Thanks for that Tim. What I was trying to find out from the thread was,did he mean the product did actually freeze? or was the temperature at or below freezing.I think he said single figures.

I did have a quick look at the link that ciera left, but you had to leave your info and subscribe...I thought I already did? recieve the newsletter etc.

Anyway, the important thing here is to do the shaker test and see.

            Thanks.ed

All you need to do is put your email address in. That's all it needs. Then whenever you want to view the MSDS sheets, you just log in to that specific area with your email. Simple as pie.
