I have a black 2010 camaro for a weekend car, put about 150 miles on her today and managed to gather up quite a bit of dust. should i quick detail or just wash, the car really isn't dirty no water spots or any of that stuff just mostly dusty, its been about 2 weeks since i waxed using nxt2.0, i quick detailed last weekend with great results but car is much dustier this time around. should i dust the car off with my cali duster then do a good QD. or should i wash. and if i wash can i use the UQW to maintain that freshly waxed look? also, how often should I reapply a coat of wax?

Use your CD and QD. That's what there made for, maintenance.
Apply new wax when the old wax is almost gone. If it beads water and "looks" waxed your fine. Some people can get a lot of months out of a good wax and NXT is a Great wax!
QD will help extend the life of your wax.

I would wash it just to be safe. It sounds like its really dusty, from what I have heard QD is only for light dust/fingerprints/bird ****, etc. Yeah, UQW will give you the just wax looked, and will bead water, but I'm not sure how well it fills in scratches and things like that. I apply a coat of wax every month with NXT 2.0. They say it last 4-6 weeks but I feel like it lasts 2-4 weeks. I only do one thin coat though.

I'd give it a wash and finish it out with your weekly maintenance spray wax or hydrophobic QD (UQD etc).
I drive my car only around town ~6 days/week, maybe 20mi/day on average, and I know by week's end, it sure needs a good wash--Not a QD session. I also know that after 150miles, I'd have a fair bit of bugs to clean, and that's not a suitable job for QD. It's a suitable scenario for a wash though!
I always stick to the my rule that QD is pretty much to be used no later than 1 day after a wash or wax. (You can imagine the reasoning). And I also use it to spot-treat nasty bird bombs when I see them so the goo doesn't eat into the clearcoat.

When's the last time you washed it? Your last detail? If that's the case I'd just go ahead and wash it. Wouldn't want to scratch that brand new paint! Also, for best results, wax every 2 - 3 months. Unless you're a car nut, then you can wax every month if you'd like. Just make sure you prep first!Shane

Judging by what you've described, I'd just wash it. I have a black car too and I know how careful you have to be every time you "touch" the paint!

The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I too would wash it. Black cars are not forgiving. I know I have created new swirls on my black car by quick detailing her when I should have washed her. If your car is dusty enough for you to raise the question whether it should be washed, then it probably should be washed. It's just safer. Optimum No-Rinse is perfect, by the way, for situations like this.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.
