Exterior Trim Detailer leaving runs

I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if this is unavoidable, After I detail my vehicles, and they happen to sit through one rainfall, or I have to run it through a quick wand wash without time to towel dry it, after the water dries off, I notice anywhere that I previously applied Exterior Trim Detailer, it leaves streaks down on the paint, they are easily removable with a UQD, but if its leaving these visible drips down the side of the vehicle the products is obviously running off and I need to reapply to protect it, I am wondering if there is something that will penetrate or "stick to" these plastic parts rather than drip off and leave runs, would maybe All Season Dressing be a better choice? This is for a person who uses vehicles daily yet wants to protect it and have it looks its best as often and longlasting as they can.

I hear this quite a bit on the forum.I must admit,I've never encountered this problem,whether it be rubber linings,plastic trim or tyres.I use natural shine on all these parts(except the tyres,I use hot shine).

After you apply the product,do you wipe it off.It sounds like you are applying to much product or not wiping off after.Could be you are doing one heavy coating as opposed to a couple of light coatings?

This can be a problem with dressings. Here is a suggestion which will help a lot! After applying the Trim Detailer, allow it to sit on the trim for at least 10-15 minutes, then wipe thoroughly with a microfiber towel.

Even then, I have had dressing streaks after a rainfall. However, usually after the first wash, the dressing will no longer streak. I say 'usually' as it also depends on the type of plastic that it is being applied to. But after the next wash, let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the tip, I will let it set for 10-15 minutes the next time I do it, usually I just spray it on the cloth and give the part I am detailing a good rubdown. I also am a believer in less is more so I am quite certain I am not using too much product.

The answer is not too much product then.I apply as you've said,but have never experienced that problem with any of the cars that I do.Maybe try Natural Shine? the one in the red spray bottle?

Is it always supposed to do so? the streaking... i experienced the same thing with GC Trim detailer & Hyperdressing. Applied just enough and wiped it with clean mf after 1-2 hour under hot sun, and it still dripped to the panel after raining.

Well, my car has 5 or 6 different kinds of rubber and plastic. Some like dressing, some dont. The ones that dont will run no matter what.

These are water based dressings, and as such will essentially wash off or come off in the rain. While they are perfectly safe for use on exterior trim, this is one of the downsides to virtually any water based product. An exception to this is Ultimate Protectant - while still water based it contains some very specialized polymers that allow it to effectively bond to the surface much the same way wax bonds to paint. But application is a bit different than with your typical water based dressings. Read through How to apply Ultimate Protectant before using it and you should be fine. Keep in mind, however, that just as Mat points out, some surfaces just don't want to accept a dressing matter what you do to them.

Thanks...i think all my exterior plastics are not GCTP and HD compatible. This is the 2nd occurance that happened to me, on the first i thought it was the LSP that melt through the rain . Ok next question, will ASD perform the same as the previous two? Thx

Yeah, most likely.

UP would be the most different, but havent used it myself yet.
