  • Product/Pad Organization

    Greetings All,
Out of paranoia of cost and/or damaging a vehicle I've been storing my pads and product (waxes, polishes, cleaners..etc..etc) in doors now.

My problem is that currently I have like 3 different bags of stuff, plus my G110's case. Although I know this is one of those 'cry me a river' or 'would I like cheese with my whine' scenarios - I really want to organize it and make it easier come cleanup time.

I have some ideas, like a small plastic toolbox or something for the pads so they don't smooshed and some other bag for all the product. Currently not 1 single bag I have is big enough for it all.

I was looking for examples/or ideas from anyone who has been doing it for awhile. Specificially for bottle/product organization.

Also, am I abnormal for storing my stuff in a controlled environment or do most people just throw their stuff on a shelf in the garage? I may do that if I were in the NE or otherwise a cooler environment, but my garage gets very warm as it is in the afternoon sun here in TX - so I was trying to be safe then sorry.

Take care and thanks for any feedback.

    Hi Ceyko!

hehe, I was at a car show the other day, and because I spent more than $50 on Meguiars products, I got a free boot organiser, it's like this black bag with lots of sections for the different products, it's cool, I feel like a car surgeon when I walk around with it! hehe

Not sure if these can be purchased from meguiars? I'm sure someone will chime in soon and let you know, they're pretty cool, though not sure if it would be big enough for all your products?

Ummm before that, I had all my stuff in a milk crate, what about one of those big plastic boxes?

this is all I do, no need to make it complicated.

my Flex 3401 is in the Flex bag along with the pads. The empty shelf below it is where I lay out the pads to dry after use and washing them
What am I, fly-paper for morons?

You guys are so neat and well organized. I have trouble getting into the garage in the first place! At least I keep all my tools and cleaning products tidy, though.

You could buy a little plastic shelf thing from wal mart. The kind for office stuff.

I may end up using crates until I find something better.

BarryK, I thought about just organzing in my garage, but as mentioned I'm just parnoid of the prolonged heat causing issues.

I do like that tote/toolbox thing. Think I saw it reference for 22 bux at wal-mart. Gonna check into that. Can pack it away in the house and tuck it somewhere not visible. Pretty cool in my book.

Thanks for all the cool ideas though - everyone.

I store all my microfibers and terry cloth towels in the main compartment of my Meg's duffel bags. In the side compartments I keep 8oz bottles of all my polishes and LSP's. I bought the bottles and lids from US Plastics.

I keep my pads in these 15 quart bins also from US Plastics:

They are just tall enough to keep pads vertical and long enough for about 9-10 6.5" or 7" pads. I prop the lids in a fashion that air still circulates but doesn't allow dust to settle on them.

I keep all that stuff inside to keep it free from dust in the garage.

All my spray bottle products live in the garage.

I don't have my own garage because i rent so I keep my stuff in my room in my portable closet. I bought 2 storage organizers, one from target and one from walmart. The one from target I liked because the bottom drawer was tall and deep so it was able to hold all my products I have so far. Then i got the other one which is smaller to store rags and other miscellaneous stuff. When it comes time to wash my car I just open my drawers and grab what I'm going to use and put the products in a small storage container and carry it outside to do my car.

ps: I like what others have posted, nice storage/organization ideas you guys!

So I keep hearing references and/or seeing pictures to storing in a garage? Am I wrong that the heat is bad for the product?

Dollar General or other dollar stores. Nice clear plastic bins (listed as sweater and shoe storage bins) with white lids for $2.50, $5, $6 that would cost two to three times as much or more at most places.

I keep my pads in separate large ziploc freezer bags inside the bins.

I dunno, I tried asking this earlier and never got a definitive answer. I plan to call Customer Care later...

                            Re: Product/Pad Organization

personally I've never had any issues with product and heat.
I do try to keep product inside during the coldest winter months to keep it from freezing but other than that I always kept everything in the garage year round and never had any issues. In fact even when I've left product in the garage during winter and freezing temps I've never had it go "bad" on me and i've been storing products this way for 30 years.

I'd be interested in hearing Meguiar's response on the heat or cold issue but simply based on my own personal experience I'm not sure that I'd change my storage practices now after all these years regardless of what Megs or any other vendor would say. I'm sure that any temperature extreme, either hot or cold, probably has at least some effect on product but at least in MY experience I haven't noticed any detrimental effects.
What am I, fly-paper for morons?

                              Good feedback BarryK, thank you.

I SUSPECT the same thing, but the stuff ain't cheap. If it can withstand some heat for awhile that would be nice since my garage has plenty of storage. The inside of my house is a different matter though.
