Best way to clean pads?

Hi.

Everytime i polish my aluminium wheels the pads gets very dirty and black from the aluminium.

Any one have a good tip how to clean the pads the easyst way?

I generally soak my applicators in a bucket of Dawn for a few hours, then come back and wring them out, and sit them to dry.

Though I usually use terry cloth for really polishing up aluminum, and then often just discard it.
