  • 105 question for pad choice.

Has anyone used 105 on a white CCS pad, or LC pad?? I helped a friend out today and polished his car for him, very swirled to say the least. I was trying to get away with just 151 and a white pad, but it just wasnt cutting it. The roof of the car was fubarred(spelling) so I thought, oh what the heck lets try some 105 on the white pad. The reason I did this is bc I seen that Nick did an old Mercedes or something with WOOL and finished damn near or at LSP ready...so anyways, I gave it a try, and wouldn't ya know that 105 on a white CCS or LC pad did great on the clear of a 04 WRX...who would have known??

I will have pics tomorrow, I finished at 10 at night, I guess I was working way to slow, it took me almost 12 hours to just do the exterior!!!

Re: 105 question for pad choice.

I have only used 105 with an orange LC pad. I do have the white, grey, and blue as well but never tried them with 105. I normally use white with the 205 or M80.

I think 105 is pretty versatile, sort of like the D151 you used, can use different pads for different finishes, if you know what I mean?

    P.S.
it took me 6 hours to do just the exterior of a 95 Nissan Sentra

A polishing pad for the Meguiars 2.0 pads.
So something with a medium cut.

I've tried it and as long as the paint isn't rock hard it generally allows for a pretty acceptable 1-step correction on most cars.

I use M105 with white all the time, especially with the PC. On rotary I tend to use it with PFW sometimes for more involved correction jobs, but white is the way to go as it lets the polish do the cutting and leaves an amazing surface... ready for final polishing pretty much every time.

.....M105 with a mild pad without much or any mechanical abrasiveness allows the product to do the work. I have followed up M105/CCS Orange with M105/CCS White or CCS Black to remove any induced damage from the prior defect removal step and it finishes on most paint surfaces LSP ready. M105 is a heavy-cut compound and although it does have great finishing potential...especially when following it up with the PC after the Flex...some of the more finicky paints can still need an additional polishing step with M205.
