  • Cleaning brown/red stained tires

I can't seem to get the browinsh/reddish staining out of the sidewalls of the tires on my titan, which has quite a large sidewall. When I scrub the tires with a nylon brush and car was solution/water and rinse they still dry looking stained and dingy brownish red. Also have some fading from UVs.

What products are best to remove the staining? Tire dressings help make it look black again, and not faded from UVs, but I want to remove the staining permanently.

Well, if it is part of the rubber, you may be stuck with it.

Yoe would want to pick up a jug of All Purpose Cleaner, or All Purpose Cleaner+, and clean the tires with that. Helps if you get the proper spray bottle and head also.

I use about an 8:1 dilution.

They are stained from my driveway, which has more red clay and dirt than it has rocks.

      Thanks

Full strength Purple Power (Cleaner/Degreaser) is pretty strong. I'm sure Meguiars has something just as powerful but I don't know the product names...

I Have always had great success using apc on my tires. If you can buy some try it.

It will also help if you use a really stiff brush.
I have never found anything that a stiff brush and full strength APC won't remove. Flush good with water after use.

White wall cleaner always gets my tires back to looking like new. Spray on brush and rinse. All stains are gone

Thanks for all the tips. The things I dislike about Purple Power and other things like Bleach-white are the chemicals. Not safe for painted surfaces and makes me nervous spraying near my fenders and then scrubbing and blasting with water. Also, my wheels are painted. I have some Orange Blast degreaser sitting around at home. Might try that out when I get home. I cant find any Meguiars APC locally, but I haven't found a local PBE either. What does PBE even stand for?

I like Westley's Bleche-Wite. Found at any auto store, in a white, blocky-shaped and fairly large spray bottle. Might want to pick up 2 bottles at once though, as it's cheap and one goes through it fairly fast. (I also have Purple Power, but do not use it because it's so harsh and strange...even when diluted).

Spray a tire in the shade, let it soak a couple minutes, and scrub it well with a stiff brush. Be sure to have a full rinse bucket handy, as you'll be dipping the brush quite often. Then rinse the tire clean.

After that, I apply Meg's Hyper Dressing 3.5:1 to the tires with a foam curved tire app pad, then follow it up with a folded MF wipedown to smoothe out the low-gloss sheen.

Any other tire protectant should work, though.

Thanks. I was kinda leery of the Bleach-Wite since it could harm the paint and also my wheels are painted. I have some Purple Power and i was too scared to use that too.

                      PBE = Paint Body Exterior

Have you tried the Meguiars dealer locator?

                      Or just order from ADS....

If it's any comfort...if any cleaning agent overspray harms your painted wheels, at least you know you didn't (is didn't an improperly-spelled word?) do it do it the right way, and they should be repainted with some clearcoat . The Bleche-Wite and its overspray shouldn't harm anything, really.

I will check out the Meguiars dealer locator. I recently made an order with ADS but didnt remember to put this in my order. Don't really wanna pay the shipping charges for 1 item on a separate order. And my wheels are factory painted/cc

PBE is a Paint Body and Equipment Store. They mostly cater to the local body shops.

Here is a link for locating a PBE store.

Dealer locator says there isn't a store in a 20 mile radius from me (for professional products). Altho, I did notice #7 and #26 on the shelf at Advance Auto yesterday.

                              ...Thanks Mister B
