    Give this a try...
The chips are for both 1939 and 1940, but the list on the bottom is just for 1939. it looks like there was only two greens used that year.

    Seaplane Green 40200

That I don't know, I was thinking you could probably find some original paint behind a door panel or somewhere like that and match it to the color chart, at least you would have a name for it!

Sorry to say but so you do not waste any money it would need stripped to bare metal to identify all areas that need attention, than put on good epoxy primer and do the repairs over the epoxy that way you have time and the bare metal is not exposed to the elements for any length of time, and you can work on it in time / money steps.

ok guys, time to bring back the dead......post that is. The car is comin gout of storage this year, and i dont have money for a repaint, so what products would you all recc. to remove chalky, dull oxidized dead looking paint and to bring out shine and smoothness. Ive been told to wash it with APC etc as to not ruin clay bar and all sorts of stuff. Heres a link to initial post of the car.

So basically, what would you guys recc. i use and how should i go about this. i WILL get this car shining again this year and a repaint is not an option.

Well, if the finish still looks like it did in your pictures from last year, you've got your work cut out for yourself!

Is it safe to assume this is single stage paint? If so, being that it's white odds are it's going to be hard. Very hard. Single stage white uses titanium dioxide as pigment, and that is hard stuff. Odds are you'll still have those deeper scratches, but at least they'll be shiny scratches!

M80 Speed Glaze on a polishing pad via D/A can do wonders to deep clean the paint and really brighten it up, but it's probably not going to have the cutting ability to really impact the scratches, especially if this paint turns out to be really hard. If you have access to a rotary and the skills to use it, it will certainly help. Of course then you have the issue of the paint history - what do you know about its age, how much it has been buffed previously, etc. Certainly the M80 or M83 on a D/A is a safe starting point, so do a test spot with that first and see where it takes you. If you don't have either of these products then give Ultimate Compound a go.

well, the paint is definitely SS and in no better condition than last year, as i ran out of time to play with it and i guess im not going for perfection, i just want it to shine like mad. Perfection would require a repaint as its chipped, scratched etc. I have NO experience with a rotary buffer, however i have access to one and M80/M83 can be had at any time by me, i dont own them but more than willing to pick them up, i DO have UC, SwirlX, 205.

As far as paint age, we've had the car for approx 20 years, give or take maybe 2 or 3. Its been painted 2x since original, once in red and its current white. As far as buffing, im sure its only been buffed a few times since being white, if that and i KNOW in the 20ish years we've owned it, its only been hand waxed.

                      Any other suggestions???

From what you have on hand, go with the UC on a yellow polishing pad (assuming you're using Meguiar's pads) with your D/A on speed 5. Do not pick up a rotary and try to learn on this car. The paint may be in pretty rough shape as it is, but you don't want to burn through anywhere either. Leave the rotary alone for now.

Start with UC as noted above, and just take your time with it. This car has been 71 years for you to come along.... it can wait a bit longer.

hahaha, what other steps do you recc. for washing/claying, wouldnt the grossness of this car kill my clay bar? Also, do you recc M07 between compounding and LSP? what LSP do you recc. for single stage paints.

A cleaner wax such as M20 would be a good LSP.

ok, could i layer that with something as well, like NXT/M21 for the long lasting hydrophobic technology or do they not play well together?

Well, you are dealing with a true extreme makeover here, and that is going to call for extreme measures. If that means picking up a couple of C2000 Mild Blue Claybars from the pro line, then so be it. M07 is probably not a bad idea here too, but it all depends on how far back you can bring this paint - it is going to be a challenge for sure!

Yes, can put a coat of NXT/M21 over M20, not a problem.
