  • Question on detailing process

Ok, here's the deal. I'm going to clay and wax my car tomorrow. I recently got M26, so I've been kinda wanting to try out the NXT 2.0/M26 combo. I'm not going to do any correction. My clear is really hard and refuses to be subjected to anything I've thrown at it: Scratch X 2.0, Swirl X, UC, even a stronger compound from Auto Magic. Butkus. If you would like to see more pics of the Cutlass, click here. So my thoughts were:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Cleaner Wax or ColorX or M07
    4. NXT 2.0
    5. M26

My main question is regarding #3. Should I use any of those products or skip 'em altogether? Since UC didn't even touch the swirls, I doubt a cleaner wax is going to do anything, but even if it would cover it up that would be alright. I really want to get a G110 and the M105/M205 combo, but that will have to wait for the time being. Any thoughts on this? Suggestions? Thanks for the help!

If you're planning to lay down the A12 cleaner wax to be used as a "filler" to hide swirls it'll be a total waste as NXT 2.0 contains mild chemical cleaning agents that will remove the wax layer beneath it.

In addition, NXT 2.0 has filling properties so it's really double work. Considering Ultimate Compound could not remove any of the defects using a milder product such as SwirlX or ColorX really won't do anything.

Just skip Step 3 and move to a coat of NXT 2.0...wait a few hours...and layer the Meg's #26 over the top. Oh, and take some pics...

FWIW, I agree with Bounty. I have already polished the heck out of the paint. You don't need a cleaner wax. Skip step #3 and go straight to NXT and M26. I'll be particularly interested in hearing your opinion about the perceived differences between NXT and 26.

      Good luck!

That's kinda what I thought. I just wanted to make absolute sure.
