  • Chamois,micro......

Hi folks,I've heard a lot of discussion on this matter:

For drying my car,I've always used chamois.I've been using the natural chamois for as far as i can remember and have never found any bother.I am in fact still using the same ones that i've had for years.

Maybe there is some discussion as to it's 'grabby' type of surface contact, compared to a microfibre towel, such as the water magnet.

I also read(somwhere on the internet),a supposed 'expert' say that they remove wax. This cannot be true. I last waxed my car with Carnauba(st.3) 2 months ago.It gets washed 2 or 3 times a week.It is outside on a very busy street 24/7. I wash it sunday, monday afternoon,it's coated with dust. It gets bombarded with bird poop(unfortunatley). It's a daily driver.

When i washed it yesterday, the water just sheeted off almost as good as the first wash.

I always hear people saying they prefer NXT 2.0 for it's longitivity.(I want to try this out soon!).I feel i'm getting very good results with carnauba and a chamois for drying

Anyway, any suggstions on this matter? Also what is the correct cleaning method for a chamois.I normally just rub it together under look warm water.

    eddie.

Truth of the matter is that people don't like using a chamois because it has no nap and could cause swirls with any left over contaminants from the wash. However if you truly do a good wash and get evrything and make sure to blot dry rather than wipe you should be fine.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

from my experience blotting dry with a chamois will take forever. If you soak the chamois before hand and spray it down and shake it off to make sure its clean and also make sure your paint is clean, then you can drag it across your paint like a water blade.

Hi guys,i think blotting would take an awful long time. I always do start with a wetted and wrung out cham. I do sweep it across the car, and havn't had problems.i think And's point is good that it must be free of any dirt or else.....

I'm thinking about buying the water magnet, though, in order to get the drying done quicker(reduction in water spots).

i've not heard anything concrete on cleaning methods for cham's though?
