I bought a bottle of Quick Interior Detailer the other day, and tried to use it to clean my leather seats, but it doesn't really seem to work. My leather seats are pretty clean, except the driver's seat is a tiny bit dirty from some skin oil. I used QID and a microfiber cloth, and it doesn't really clean. It smudges at most. Then I tried using a brush, and that didn't work either... Any ideas why? I also did the same with my bottle of Optimum Protectant Plus leather cleaner and the results were a little better, but not much. Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Quik Interior Detailer question
QID is like the Quick Detailer for paint... it is just for light dust ,dirt.
So, you will want a dedicated products to try and get out dirt that is worked into the leather.
You could try something like the liquid Gold Class Cleaner/Conditioner, All Purpose Cleaner, or the 2-Step Leather Cleaner and Conditioner.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

QID is a light cleaner, the analogy is QID is to your interior what QD is to your exterior. If your car's paint had a scratch or oxidation you wouldn't use QD to try to remove it you would use a dedicated product just for that type of task which would be a paint cleaner or compound or even a cleaner/polish.
We have a dedicated leather cleaner and a dedicated conditioner in our Consumer Line as well as AIO type products for both leather and vinyl.

Re: Quik Interior Detailer question
Murr1525 and Mike Phillips, how do you clean leather? Do you just put some of the cleaning liquid on the surface then wipe it with a towel or do you have to use a brush to clean it? Also, why doesn't my Optimum Leather Protectant work?

Re: Quik Interior Detailer question
First, I like to use the liquid to clean leather. I dont think the sprays/wipes give enough product to work into the surface.
Generally, I would apply the liquid to a piece of terry cloth, and work it in with a fair bit of passion. And a second or third coat if needed, but I would not soak the leather. I would back off and let it dry if needed, then apply more.
As far as Optimum... I dunno?2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

The fact that you're calling it a "protectant" leads me to believe it's just that, a protectant. It might claim to have cleaners in it, but you're always better off with dedicated products.Alex C.

Black150 is right. If your Optimum product is a dedicated protectant it might not offer much cleaning ability.
As for how I apply products to the interior? This will sound somewhat simplistic but I usually use your basic cotton terry cloth wash cloth for cleaning dirty leather and vinyl seats. The little cotton loops called the nap provide a some gentle scrubbing action to help you better work your cleaner into and over the surface. There are usually plenty in the linen closet and afterwards I can wash it and delegate it to some lowly job in the future like checking the oil or simply toss it, but it works pretty good. This way I don't sacrifice a nice microfiber either.

You might also consider picking up a 12oz sampler of Meguiar's D180 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner from ADS
