Re: Bugs!
Great information in this thread. I would never of thought to "let them soak". I have a real extreme version of this problem and a solution that I think works pretty well that I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on.
Every other week I drive my Black (best color for this), SUV (think Large surface area), through the Imperial Valley, CA in Summer (think 110 degree average temp farmland) at or around dusk. The size and number of bugs I hit is just ridiculous. After every trip I am faced with thousands of LARGE baked on bugs covering the front clip, windshield and mirrors. Yumm.....
I have taken to generously spraying bug and tar remover on cool paint before I wash the SUV. I let it soak on for a few minutes and then I wash the SUV with lots of warm water and constant cleaning of the wash mit. This really does the trick but when it gets really bad, or to get bugs off the non painted grill, windsheild, etc. I will use the pressure washer.
Finally, I have found that good wax makes bugs much easier to remove.
