  • Dusty Conditions

Hi my name is Joe, and I enjoy keeping a very clean and detailed car. Every spring I do a deep cleaning on my car by claying it and doing the three step deep crystal system. Last weekend is when I performed this cleaning on my car and it looked and feels amazing. I also got many complament from people. The proplem I am having is where I have to park at work. Everyday when Im ready to leave my car is completly coved in a dust. Its like someone took a bag of flour and busted it open above my car. Now after one week my car is no longer smooth and I think it needs to be clayed again. I have never ran into so much dust in just one day. The company Im working for now is located in a diffrent city compaired to the old company and I never got that much dust on my car. So Im just wondering if you guys would have any tips or ideas on what I could do. Would a California duster help, and if it does would I have to dust my car and do a quick detailer spray everyday when I get home from work? Thanks for the help. If you have any questions please ask and I will reply back.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Do you have to park under or near trees? If so that could be a big part of your problem. I have a lot of trees at home, so my car gets really dusty really fast, but at work there aren't trees in the immediate vicinity, so the dust is fairly minimal. Try to avoid parking under trees if you can.

The california duster works great so long as the dust isn't too heavy. I'd say two days old at max. It's not enitirely necessary to do a QD after dusting, but you can. I dust my truck every morning but only QD it every other day.

I should also add that the duster works best on a waxed surface. The dust will come right off if the surface is in good condition.

I dust my car with a poor man's California Duster (the one made by TurtleWax) everyday after work because I also have a problem with dust, only in my case it's from dust kicked up from cars speeding through our large parking lot at 30 mph. I wipe it down with Last Touch about once every 3 days and am able to stretch car washes to about once every 2 weeks.

Hi Joe, I know how you feel.If it's as bad as you say, then i would wash it every day, when you get home.If you leave it to long, you will have more work to clean it,as you said claying.I go by this rule and havn't had any trouble:If it's excessive dust,Wash it. if it's light dust Quik detail it as long as you use a microfibre. My car is outside on a busy road, trucks and buses pass and create a lot of dust.I can't wash every day,so i just detail it and it works fine for me, and doesn't scratch.just use plenty of quik detailer and don't rub with the microfibre, just gently wipe.
