  • Best consumer product to tackle LIGHT swirls?

Hi everyone. Hope you east-coasters are enjoying the nice weather today. A quick background...

Got my civic about 3 months ago. It's black and like all black cars a huge pain to keep pristine. Anyway, I always kept my cars' finishes in great shape so I never had to do extreme swirl removing. Looking at the car in the sun today, I'm starting to see very minor swirl marks. Nothing bad at all just routine cleaning on a black car.

I used to use DC1 because I could apply it to small sections like a wax and it did the job fairly well. I don't need anything crazy but it looks like SwirlX is the only option for paint cleaning in the consumer line. Won't SwirlX be a little too aggressive? And I've heard Honda's have "soft" paint. Should this factor into my decision? Any cleaner will be followed with #7 and NXT 2.0 if that helps. Thanks!

Try SwirlX with a foam applicator. You can apply it gently or aggressively, depending on the level of paint correction you want to accomplish. Do a TEST SPOT first before polishing the entire car. I have a Honda, too, and I don't think you are going to have a problem with SwirlX applied by hand.

I'm with him too, my concern isn't simply removing the swirl but that I'm afraid I'll be removed more than needed to remove the swirls.

Good information on the pressure though with SwirlX, would it then be the least aggresive choice? How about compared to DC Cleaner as he mentioned?

I read a lot that Honda paint is soft......If doing by hand, give ColorX, an All In One paint cleaner wax in a test spot and move up the chain if need be.....

DC1 is a pretty mild product, but works great, SwirlX and Ultimate compound works great by hand and works as hard as you work in my experience.....

        Like Al mentioned.....TEST SPOT!

I don't want to use ColorX because I plan to polish after cleaning and that product skips that step.

A pure polish is an option and a great option.....

Try DC1 if that don't cut it, then M09 or SwirlX.....

Just dont work the SwirlX in with as much passion. The newer products dont need to "break down" the way the old ones did.

Just Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or SwirlX.
