I was wondering if anyone has an idea to restore the color to the plastic bumpers on a 1990 rx7 . they are starting to fade so any help would be appreciated. Any products you would recomend? also the trim on the body is starting to fade any ideas?

Re: how to resore plastic bumpers on a 1990 rx7
Questions...
What have you tried so far?
Are they single stage or clear coated?
Check this thread,
How To Test for a Clearcoat or Single Stage Paint Finish
It was probably clear coated from the factory but maybe not, you'll want to find out. If it's has a factory clear coat and just the bumpers are fading then there's likely anything you can do that's going to restore them to match the rest of the panels.
If it's single stage paint then any of our compounds or paint cleaners followed by a polish and then a coat of wax should work.
Can you get a picture?

Re: how to resore plastic bumpers on a 1990 rx7
I should have been more specific. The bumpers are closer to being rubber than plastic ( they are soft not hard ) I have used cleaner wax and colorx in the past and they have made them look better for a short while but then they go back to their old color. also neither of those products do any thing for the plastic trim on the body . As i posted earlier the car is red from bumper to bumper except for the convertible top

It appears to be painted like the rest of the car. I personally would use some M80 followed by NXT 2.0, using your color x will make it look a lot better too.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

They are not paint? Now I am confused..... or not reading the thread very well...
It is solid red plastic, all the way through?
OK.... so we can regroup...
There isnt a lot to do as far as removing the dried plastic... you would want to get something like the Gold Class Trim Detailer and get a lot of it put on there so it soaks up as much as possible.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
