  • how to apply M21 to a new car?

Hi guys as I sad before ,I bougt a new morenello red fiat bravo sport. I want to apply M21 Mirror Glaze Synthetic Sealant 2.0 .
1-First of all do I have to use anything before M21 for the new car (there is no residu or straches on the car)? Is it enough for the new car for protection and waxing as a LSP, or do I have to use another product?
2-Can I apply it withouth machine, with hand pads? How many minutes do I have to wait for wipe away M21 with microfiber towell?
3-Do I have to apply two coats for the new car? If two coats is necessary ,what is the time period between two intervals ( 2 hours, 1 day, ......) ?
I am looking for your reply, thanks guys .

    1. If there are truly no swirls or scratches you can apply the optional step of M07 show car glaze, but it is not necessary. If it was sitting in a lot outside, I would suggest claying it first.
    2. Yes you can apply by hand. Wait around half an hour before wiping, but do a finger swipe test first. Swipe your finger across the wax and if it comes off clean, you are ready, but if there is residue or smearing, then you aren't ready. You can let the wax sit as long as you want before wiping it off.
    3. 2 coats will ensure more even coverage of your car. If you decide to do a second coat, wait at least 12 hours.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

      1. You dont have to do anything, but it can improve your looks if you do.

Do you have the Smooth Surface Clay kit available to you, and the Cleaner/Wax?

It would be great if you could:

      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. Cleaner/Wax
      4. #21

      2. Working by hand is fine, #21 spreads very thin and easily. You want to let the wax sit and dry until you can wipe it away clean, with no residue left on the paint. Probably 15-20 minutes if applied thin, and reasonable humidity.

      3. Yes, 2 coats of wax are recomended. Again, you dont have to, but nice if you can. You can do 2 coats of #21, or 1 coat of Cleaner/Wax and 1 Coat of #21. It is good to wait at least 15 minutes between coats.

I would suggest claying your car, even though new, when transported, all sorts of ick gets on the paint and embeds themselves to the paint.....

M21 is one of those awesome waxes that can be applied three ways! Hand/DA/Rotary..... Your choice really. I personally like to apply by hand as the nooks and crannys need some assistance by hand. Make sure to put on a THIN coat! I apply with a Yellow Meguiar's applicator. I tried with my G100 but did not like it as much, personal preference.....

Ideally, two coats is perfect. Drying time depends on conditions.....

Best thing to do is what is called a Swipe Test (look at my avatar)

Check this thread out on Swipe Test

        Swipe Test

Recommended time to put on a second coat is 12 hours, I don't have a garage and live in a rural area with lots of dust. I put on first coat, remove, clean interior, pick up all my tools and usually that's more than an hour and then put on second coat.....If your car is garaged, perfectly alright to put on second coat next day, check for light dusting if you have dust and remove with a QD (Quik Detailer/Last Touch etc) prior to putting on second coat.

My car is 2 weeks old, I think the paint is 4 weeks old so it is anew car.How many days should I wait for the waxing with M21 to let the paint cure/gas-out?

If it is a new car, the paint is already cured from the factory.

If it is a repaint, then you should wait 45 to 90 days for it to out gas.
