  • Limited Product Availability

Unfortunately the local Meguiars distributor here in Australia only stocks a limited range of products, with none of the latest releases. I’m looking to order some online from the US, but due to the high cost of shipping I need to minimise the number of products.

I intend to purchase the G220 locally, so would be using a DA for the products. I have two cars. One is an ex demo with minor swirls that is mine and I look after religiously. The other is 10 years old and belongs to my partner (her idea of car care is to wash it once a year through a car wash) so it is very heavily swirled and scratch.

I was considering getting some combination of M105, M83, M205, Scratch X 2.0, and Ultimate Compound. The NXT2.0 and M21 waxes are already available here in Oz so I don’t need to import them.

There are other lines available here in Australia such as Menzerna and Prima, but I don’t really have any idea of how good they are or their compatibility with the NXT2.0 wax, which I really like.

I am also considering importing the 2.0 pads, as I can only get the old 6” pads locally. Is it worthwhile doing this or just using the locally available pads? I can also get Lake Country pads locally.

So bottom line is what would be the minimum products I should be importing?

IMHO, M105 & M205 would be the killer combo. UC and SwirlX performs similarly to the latter two.

Either the M105/M205 Tag Team or the UC/SwirlX Combo

As for pads, the convenience of throwing the new 2.0 pads into the washing machine and dryer after use is hard to beat but the smaller non-washable pads will work just as well.

You would probably want to import Meguiars latest professional line products, especially the M105\205 combo. Maximize the sizes. It may hurt your pocketbook initially, but you will save loads of money down the road by ordering gallon sized products. It doesn't hurt to have something in between the cutting ranges of 105\205, so if you can wing the cost, include bottles of Ultimate Compound, ScratchX 2.0, and SwirlX. I would add at least a quart of M80 and D151 to the mix and an economical quick detailer like the versatile Last Touch.

Thanks for the super fast replies

I assume the G220 will come with the appropriate backing plate for the 6" pads. Will I require anything extra to use the 2.0 Pads?

No, you can use the stock backing plate with the new 2.0 pads, but the new W68DA BP is really nice too, and engineered specifically to maximize the efficiency of the 2.0 pads.

M105/205 combo seems to be a great addition based on what I've seen on this site. Will definitely get gallon sized.

M80 is availble here according to the Meguiars Australia site but I haven't been able to find it at any of the local auto shops here.

I'm curious as to why you're recommending the D151. I assume it would be used for regular maintenance sessions rather than serious paint corrections. The A12 Cleaner Wax Paste is available here, would that do a similar job (It's one less product I need to import)?

Last Touch is available locally as well as the consumer quick detailers.

the backing pad that comes with the G220 is more versatile in my own opinion. Both the new (W68DA) and W67DA works with the new 2.0 pads but bear in mind that the newer b/pad is slightly bigger as its made specifically for the 2.0 pads. If you ought to use the W68DA with the older pads, the edge of the backing pad is very near to the edge of the pad. Scary if the edge comes contact with paint

(This is a W68 for rotary - should have the same diameter for DA; Copied from our member- Nick Chapman galleria)

As for the D151, its more aggressive then the A line cleaner wax and D151 is based on SMAT.

I notice that neither 105 or 151 are listed on the Meguiar's Australia web site. I haven't been able to find 105 in any of the major auto shops here in Brisbane. Are the 2.0 pads becoming available here as well?

6 weeks is how long it would probably take for me to get the products from O/S so it will be worth the wait.

The Meguiars Australia website is maintained by the official distributor Motoractive, it's not actually Meguiars itself. Unfortunately the Professional section has not been up to date for a while.
I did ask when about the version 2 pads when they were released and was told they're evaluating the cost / demand for the pads, no update on this.
i can confirm 205 is here there is no 6 week wait so you can order 105 & 205 today!

Where can I order the 105 & 205 from as I haven't been able to locate anyone who stocks it in Brisbane, and it's not listed on the Motoractive online store?

Localy you can try Rare Spares as they stock a heap of Pro products. If you want to buy online you can order from Zen Car Care Supplies. They have only recently started stocking Meguiars products and the range is growing constantly.

What advantages, if any, do the Meguiars 2.0 pads have over the Lake Country CCS pads?

I can pick up the Lake Country pads down the road, whereas I need to import the 2.0 pads, and would like to know whether the extra cost and shipping time is worth it.
