  • Proper Diliution for Hyper Wash for pre-soak?

Hi guys, this week I will finally be detailing my 2008 Civic and I want to give it a good pre-soak with the Hyper Wash I picked up. What is a good dilution ratio to use for the pre-soak? Right now I use it at 1oz per gallon when I just wash the car. I have seen many guys get a nice thick foam to get a good soak.

    Thanks guys

p.s. I dont post much but i follow alot of threads and everyone is amazing here, been very helpful, just wanted to say thanks and keep up the good work!

Are you using a foam gun? Hyperwash is supposed to be diluted 400:1 which means that technically you should use .32 ounces per gallon. With a 5 gallon bucket you should use 1.6 ounces of hyperwash

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

I have a foam sprayer that has a meter that automatically adjusts the ratios by changing these little tips inside. I only have the tip that dispenses 1 ounce per gallon. I just wasnt sure if that was too much or if guys that are getting the nice thick foam is because they are using a better foam gun than mine.

1 oz per Gal should be fine.
If you really want to stretch it, go with 1 oz per 5 gal.

1 oz per gallon (132:1) is the regular ratio for most soaps, but hyper wash is 400:1, or about 1 ounce per 3 gallons.

So, using pure Hyper Wash with your current tip would be 3 times stronger than "recomended", which would be thicker.

The people who use the foam guns with the power washers, or with certain foaming soaps, do get more foam.

The Gilmour style gun with the Meguiars soaps at the proper ratios wont give as thick/long lasting of a foam, but still reasonable for a pre-rinse.

I dont know what Hyper Dressing at a higher ratio will do, you might have to take some pics.

          What gun are you using?

Its actually a industrial foam gun that is used for cleaning/sanitizing. I figured it does exactly the same thing as a regular foam gun. It works perfect, the only problem is that I only have one tip which produces foam at the 1 ounce per gallon level. Its called HydroSoak or something. I was going to buy a gilmour but then I came across this for no cost so I took it. At 1 ounce per gallon it made great suds, I just dont want it to be too strong or something and damage the paint.

It won't damage the paint but will be harsh on the wax since you are using it at three times the recommended ratio

You can of course mix water in with the soap in the foam gun's jug to raise the dilution.

True, so if I am calculating this right, you could mix it 3:1 (water to soap) and it should be the 400:1 ratio coming out if you are doing 1 oz per gallon

No, don't think you did the math right.... its 384:1....

Just kidding. Its actually my fault, 1 gallon is 128oz, not 132oz.

So, for anyone wondering, you would just multiply the 3:1 by the 128:1.
