  • How many passes till #83 hits color?

Hi, Im trying to get a point of reference about the PC and #83. Lets say we have a modern clear coat car with avg hardness, avg thichness and about room temp work area...how many passes would you say it would take working a 2x2 area to hit the color? Or at least to the point of removing to much clear resulting in soon clear failiar? Ive been working my hood abit,Id say at least 10 passes, its almost perfectly leveled. Just trying to see where I stand, thx

This is a tough one, without being there...
When you say 10 passes with #83, is that a singular application/session?

If it is 'perfectly leveled' , you may want to try several passes with Swirl Remover, or any FINE polish...

DACP can leave some *microscopic* swirls.

On topic, sounds like you have plenty of clearcoat to work with

Who's paint is it? What mfg?

    Jim
If it was easy, everybody'd be doing it!

Thanks Jimmy...yea at least 10 applications up/down/left/right 6 mins on avg with about 4lbs pressure moving about 1" per sec. Its a 97 ford cobra. I havent completely removed all the pitting an etching but close..can i actually level it in your opinion if ive already gotten this far in 10 applications? How about this how many applications of #83 on a orange Sonus pad would equal an avg single pass with a rotary using say #84 or #85? I want to keep going but Im afraid I dont know how thin the ice im walking on is,lol. If I could just get some kinda scale I be ok,thx
