  • cleaning black rubber

    i was doing a walk around my car this morning because i do not park in a garage. so anyways, i was walking around and i saw that my black rubber trim had some small bird stain. i quickly tried to get it off with a microfiber towel. the stain is gone but now the trim has some smuge looking lines that i can't get off with the microfiber towel... help me please!

    does the gold class trim detailer get rid of it?

    Might want to wipe over it with APC first, then dress with the Trim Detailer.

        No big deal... All Purpose Cleaner.

        Or at least use a QD kind of product to clean it off.

            ....hit the stain/smudges with a cleaning solution first. Either Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner Plus (APC+) or Meguiar's M39 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner followed by a Quik Detailer and microfiber. Should work fine. You can dress it with the Gold Class Trim Detailer or the M40 Vinyl & Rubber Protectant.

              QD = Quik Detailer

              UQD = Ultimate Quik Detailer

              I'd use APC (All Purpose Cleaner) or APC+.

                edit - but i'm also wondering... possibly that i scratch the rubber?

                  You probably won't find APC or APC+ there but there might be another brand of APC that is decent (although the only other I tried is simple green and I did not like it).

                    honestly don't feel like spending more money on the car. need performance parts but all i'm buying these days are detailing products lol.

                    you guys think the QUD will get it out? hate to visit the kragens/autozone again.

                      It may or may not come out, but something with at least a little cleaning ability would be good.

                      Kragens might not have the APC type products, not sure.

                          I really like M40 on rubber, it has cleaning ability as nappers said and it leaves it looking great!
