  • Today was first time ever......

Hey guys, today was the very first time Ive ever put to use some of the things ive learned here since joining!!

I went and washed my truck today, and unfortunately i couldn't find a 2nd bucket for a rinse bucket .

Anyway, what i did today for the first time was this!

    • filled bucket with water FIRST and THEN added a MEASURED amount of MGC to between 4 and 5oz (used to glug glug soap in empty bucket then suds blast)
    • Washed/rinsed wheels/tires first
    • Used sheepskin mitt without sticking hand inside it for frequent turning
    • Rinsed every panel immediately after washing to prevent soap drying

Only thing that somewhat upset me, was i dumped about half the water out of bucket with probably a good half of the initial soap where as before i never ended up with as much water/soap? Maybe my past glug glug method i was shorting myself of soap??

Now, all i need is a second bucket and a couple grit guards (where can i find 2BM setup like Mike has in how to wash vid.) along with something besides bath towels to dry my truck with. Waffle Weave MF?? Any Suggestions?

Thanks guys, my truck is looking MIGHTY FINE tonight!

I don't like waffle weave towels myself. The little threads seem to get caught on everything and then they come apart. I like the regular microfiber drying towels, the ones that are 6 feet square. You can pick them up at Advance Auto, Autozone, O'Reilly's, Wal-mart, or Target - pretty much wherever you can buy car care supplies. I'm just saying that I'd use the regular microfiber over the waffle weave. Have fun!

Re: Today was first time ever......

For me, waffle weaves all the way. I just finished washing my car this evening and implemented some equipment for the first time. My new wash nozzle with an adjustable gooseneck made short work of soaking and rinsing the roof and spraying underneath the rocker panels and bumpers. I blast the water in short bursts both to soak and rinse the car's surface. I find that it really saves water and gives the appearance that I'm being water-conscious to the neighbors

2 weeks ago I bought a cordless leaf blower to sheet the final rinse water off the surface. Worked awesome and the battery lasted just long enough for me to finish the job. Then it was to the waffle-weaves to blot up the remaining water. The key word here is blot. Don't wipe up your excess water, even with a drying towel. Blotting up the water ensures you won't be swirling your finish.

I really like the Waffle Weaves, as J.A. said, they work great.
I use them to clean up the little water droplets left from the chamois.
They are more like a towel.
                The size is 22X30

                    Meguiars Brand.
Although there are many different brands, such as the California Drying towel, and the Cobra Guzzler.

i saw the california one on ADS, never saw the Cobra one though.

Also, how many of these bad boys do you guys recc. i get. I was thinking a single case of 6 or maybe 2 cases of 6. I know on average, my truck takes 2-3 towels to dry off and if im doing multiple vehicles, that could make for a bad thing!

Just make sure you wash your truck first

I use the California Drying Towel from ADS, It's a Waffle Weave towel.

will a waffle weave MF towel absorb more water than a generic bath towel?
