  • ScratchX fillers?

Hi, does ScratchX contain fillers?? thx

Yep. I used it the incorrect way the first few applications and treated it like a wax. After learning how to properly use from this web site I see what I did wrong. The fillers (buffer) had worn away after a few months and the defect I thought I fixed was still there. That was few years ago when I tried that.

I haven't really used this product since I moved on to the PC and other polishes, so I can't give a fair estimate of the abilities of this product and fillers. Most people seem to like the results.

    Hope this is helpful.

Thx scrub, ive been having trouble with 9 after 83 leaving micro marring. I hear theres been mixed results with ScratchX + PC so i tried it and its working but as you say it might just be the fillers. Whats the 50/50 mix? Is that regular rubbing alcohol with water? Can I wipe the area down with this after the ScrathX to see if it removes the fillers and reveal the real surface? thx

I reciently tried scratch x with the pc and had very good results. In my opinion it worked very similar to 80. The trick seemed to be to work it in very very well. Then when you go to wipe it off give it a blast of qd and it comes off so easy.
Have you tried using 80 following the 83 on your cobra. I polished one out a few months ago that was about to be sold. Went on it pretty hard with 83 (had been a abused car), following that I inspected the finish and saw some light micromaring. Followed that with 80 and really over worked it. 2x nxt. The finish was awsome. It looked clear as could be. There was no sign of micromaring what so ever. I prefer 80 over 9 as just a personal preference. Might be worth a try. The car was a black 97 cobra.

Hi Lt1, yea i wanted to get some 80 but napa doesnt carry it around here, ive looked around cant find any, gonna order some. The ScratchX is working pretty good for me and it seems to take alittle while to work it. I just cant get 9 to do anything for me but scratchX is working as long as its not just fillers doing it. Will the QD pull out the fillers so i can tell if Im removing the marring?? I dont want to just fill them. Thx Ps..yea mines a 97 Black Cobra 20k miles...in your opinion was the paint hard or soft?

              Hey NVCobra,

I noticed in another thread that you have used the #84 Compound Power Cleaner with the PC. I am starting to worry that perhaps part of the micro-marring may be indeed caused by the #84 and the PC, as the product was designed to be used with a rotary. If the product was not broken down far enough, you may end up with micro-marring that will be difficult to remove, even with subsequent steps. Hence, more work with #83 will be needed to remove the marks.

Once completed with the #83, any haze that remains from DACP should be removed with either #9 or #82.

Here is a picture of my truck's tailgate. The truck is swirl free in direct sunlight. True, I did use a rotary, and I used #83 and #80. But I have obtained the same results with the #83/82 or #9 combo. Often, I will use #83 with the rotary, and follow that with #82 or #9 with the PC.

Don't worry; we will figure out what is going on and solve the problem soon!
