    What to buy?

    OK, so I was at O'Reilly's auto parts store this afternoon, looking at one of their catalogs with Meguiar's products. I think they have most of the Mirror Glaze lineup and the Detailer lineup along with a bunch of other Megs stuff in their warehouses. They have several in the Southeast, so they can get stuff shipped to the store in just a couple of days. I'm considering buying some stuff, but I'm not sure what to get. Could you help me out? Maybe tell me some pros and cons of each product?

    (1) Hyper Dressing or All Season Dressing? (for use on interior plastic, tires and wheel wells, engine bay)
    (2) Shampoo Plus or Hyper Wash?
    (3) APC or APC+ (interior carpets and plastic surfaces, tires and wheel wells, engine bay, basically for whatever; I'm thinking APC+ is a little more versatile based on the threads I've read, but I'm not sure)

    Hmmm, I think O'Reilly's is taking over Schucks and maybe I can have better access to stuff as I know most of the guys in my store.

    I don't own Hyper Dressing, but a lot of people use it for interiors as you can dilute it to the finish you want.....I have ASD and like it a lot for outside trim for when GCTD is not responding.. I also spray wheel wells with it. HD is a water based dressing (obviously) and it's durability on exterior is not as long as ASD, but people use it for exterior....Your choice. A gallon of HD lasts longer if thats what you want.....

    Hyper wash has an amazing 400:1 dilution ratio.....What do you want to accomplish? wash a ton of cars or just your cars and a couple on the side? Shampoo Plus seems to be popular as well as the Mirror Glaze line. I think Tuck or Carfire just reviewed Shampoo Plus (they both have red trucks and I can't remember who does what sometimes.....) check out the thread (search Shampoo Plus)

    I own both products....I love APC+ for it's low foaming forumula for carpet and cloth upholstery, it works as well as APC for general cleaning. If you only want one product, then APC+ is your choice. I mix 7:1 (4 oz product, 28oz water). Nothing wrong with APC, I use it on exterior wheel wells and engine bay for as a base when I clean and move up to SD if needed (least aggressive first).

      1. Well... Interior and Engine would want Hyper Dressing. Tires and Wheel Wells would do best with ASD, but you can use HyperDressing on them if you wanted.

      3. Yeah, APC+ would be good, remember a spray bottle, etc.

          From the three listed i only have Hyper Dressing it is an amazing product like many here say it spreads on its own on tires,wheel wells, and engines.And since its water based doesn't last too long on tires,but still great! give that one a try.

              Another question. Will Hyper Dressing or All Season Dressing stain the driveway? Or is that never an issue?

                If it rains often in your area than ASD is your better bet for outside surfaces. If not, or if you do not mind re-applying product after it does, Hyper Dressing just rocks. It is a very versatile and easy to use product because most of the time you can just mist and on the surface (wheel wells, engine bay etc) and walk away. Come back an hour later and it magically spreads evenly over the entire area.

                For interiors, I can't say I have ever tried Hyper Dressing, but M40 is my go-to product for sure. Leaves a clean, NEW looking surface without a greasy feel or dust attraction. Love the stuff.

                Shampoo Plus is a great soap, can't go wrong there.

                If you just want one, APC+ won't let you down. As you mentioned, it is slightly more versatile than APC. Aside from use with an extractor, I use them pretty interchangeably without issue.

                  Mark echoed what I was thinking, the product you don't have listed is M40, great smelling, pretty durable and your rubber door seals/trunk seals etc will love you too!

                  M40 goes a long ways, It's my go to on every detail I do of my own cars and the couple of others and I still have a 1/3 gallon and I got my gallon in September of '07 when I got lucky and aquired a gallon!

                    ... but if that isn't going to work then I would listen to Mark's advice. He knows what he is talking about.

                    I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
                    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                    Remove swirls my friends.

                      I would go with the ASD for exterior trim, wheel wells etc.
                      Shampoo Plus
                      APC+
                      You will probably want the Hyper Dressing for engine Bay.

                      I would definitely get #40 for the interior.

                        I have not tried ASD or Hyperdressing, so i cannot comment there. But i use M40 on exterior trim from time to time and you could get a gallon of that if you wanted.

                        I actually just tried Shampoo Plus for the first time last week and I loved it even more than good ole Gold Class.

                        I have APC, and I use it on engines, interiors, carpets, tires, wheels, and wheelwells, and around the house. APC is a pretty versatile product and its handled every task I have thrown at it.

                            ASD is not dilutable, so you get the full shine. Not so great for interiors.

                              I am looking for a durable wheel well dressing. The water based ones seem to last as long as there is no water...rain on road...
