DC#2, #5, or #81?

I'm on a little budget right now and on my way on getting some polish + clay bar. Now, DC2 is at $4.99 while M81 is at $15.99 with New Car Glaze in the middle.

Now, what would be the best bang for the buck? If I order the M81, I have to pay $3 more for shipping simply because I'm $0.98 over the $25 maxium for $5.95 shipping.

Save your $$ and go with DC2. #81 might be slightly easier to use but not worth the extra cash. All 3 are pure polishes I think (not to sure about #5). When you have specific flaws you are trying to fix then step up to some other types of cleaner/polishes with abrasives. The three you mentioned will provide hi gloss and fill minor flaws.

As a side note when using the polish be sure to remove while wet, not waiting for the polish to dry.

Good luck. What's your choice of wax to top the polish?

I've read that it would be a pain to remove if it ever turns out really dry.

Here's what I've been planning for a while but never got to get around to it.

Wash: GC
Clay Bar
ColorX (great product, btw)
A polish of...DC2 I don't mind.
2x NXT wax

I need the ultimate protection for winter since both my cars are usually outside while the garage is just full of ****.

If your just planning to protect rather than repair swirls and minor scratches, then your plan will give you the best results. You got it covered with great surface prep, and topped with a great wax.

ColorX is a real good product on its own and topped with NXT.

Unfortunately, I do have swirls, rather deep ones. I was planning to get a PC for Christmas & #83 which I'm hoping to fix all my problems.

Wouldn't ColorX remove swirls that range from light to medium? I do have ScratchX you know...

ScratchX is capable of removing many more swirls than ColorX. However, it will be a lot of work as it is not a wipe on, wipe off product. You must work at it in order for you to achieve the results you desire. ScratchX is probably the most aggressive product that is recommended for use by hand.

ColorX is more of a chemical cleaner to aid in the removal of oxidation. The write up does say light scratches and swirls. Guess you'll have to test and find out. I've had good luck with this product on single stage paint.

I haven't used scratchx in a while. I did use this for smaller isolated spots not entire vehicles.

As for the PC and #83 you might need another polish to help remove and marring incurred from using #83. #80 Speed glaze is good for this. You might find that #80 will work well enough on its own too. Check this link out

I've tried ColorX but on the new car which is light colored and didn't have much imperfections in the first place. So can anybody else have a say on swirl removing? I won't be detailing until my clay bar arrives.

First off, from my experiences I find that ColorX removes few to no swirls.

Second, I recently got my PC and the products to go with its and I have found 83 + 80 + 81 + NXT + MPPP to be my best combination. The 83 + 80 combo gives amazing results.

Does ColorX have those diminishing properties that ScratchX has?

I'm not 100% positive about this...but I am pretty sure that ColorX is more of a chemical cleaner than an abrasive cleaner.
