What pads are you using? The newer Softbuff 7" pads (7207, 8207, 9207) have a sturdier backing plate and safe for machine washing. The older 6.5" pads ((7006, 8006, 9006) are also supposed ot be machine wash safe, but most members here seem to prefer hand washing those.

Didn't Meguiar's discourage any type of washing of the earlier series, (7006, 8006, 9006), pads?
I don't think Meg's even recommended hand washing although many do/did. Including me.
I have the old pads, I fill the sink, swish the pads around and get the polish out and if needed, use dawn soap. I rinse them thoroughly and spin them on my rotary to sling the water out. Then set out to dry.
I only had one pad lose a backing plate and one other pad with some of the backing lifting but still very usable.
The concern with washing is hot water, too strong of soap makes the glue holding the backing come loose. Least aggressive! Polish is pretty easy to get out and mostly the rinsing takes care of it. I wash them quickly as the hot water may lift the backing.
So far so good!
The new 2.0 pads are machine washable.
