    Re: Thoughts on a vac.

How could I buy anything else but a Craftsman??...here's my two cents on this subject...funny cuz I was just thinking about this yesterday as I was detailing a customers car..

32 years ago (yes thirty two), I purchased a Craftsman Shop Vac. I still use it weekly for a variety of chores...it's definitely on it's last legs but it's all original including the casters....I have had to configure a bracket to hold the filter in place and I notice that it's been "coughing" dust sometimes when I move it around. It's been one of a kind and the only one I've owned..I will definitely shop for another one at Sears, when the end comes

So here she is...and a scan of the manual,....she's dirty but she still does the job !!!

The springy hose can be a nuisance, but it didn't seem to be any more of a nuisance when under suction than it was anytime it is extended any length. I hold the tool with one hand and the hose about 2' upstream with the other when I am reaching any distance.
The springy hose is probably not used on the regular models so they shouldn't have the problem.
I've taken to grabbing the hose back a ways as well and giving myself enough 'slack' to keep things in order. I was thinking about taping the suction ring closed but just never have. I was working on a car this evening and pinched the webby skin between my thumb and 1st finger, still hurts.

The pinch point is primarily where the hose goes into the hard attachment end (termination from flexy to hard).
