  • Dog Hair Removal tips?

    Hey guys,

I'm working on a 2007 Lexus IS350 right now and the interior of this car is very bad. The dirt isn't too bad but the dog hair is horrible. The majority of it comes out with the vacuum but being black carpet, you can still see a lot of the hair.

I'm using a lint roller and duct tape right now. Using the duct tape by pressing it on the carpet then ripping it off. Both work alright, but I don't have the time to do that to the entire interior.

What have you guys done that is effective and fast?

On furniture, rubber gloves, like the latex exam ones, seem to work well. They dont pull the hair off, but you can move it together to then vacuum.

I think Meguiars has a discontinued brush for this exact purpose

I used that brush today on my daughters car. She has 2 dogs. It got rid of all the dog hair. Made it quite easy as a matter of fact.

Use the brush at the same time that you run a high-powered vacuum over the area; should take care of most all of the hair.

Ryan, although this particular brush is no longer available, you can find similar brushes in retail stores, at least what I could find. Not the fastest ways to do it but it works and a shop vac on the side to vacuum it up. It's like sweeping the rug. Depending on how deep the rug is depends on how fast you go.

Thanks everybody for the replies!! The car is already long gone and so is the dog hair.

I just had to buckle down and vacuum for a long time, but I finished it.

                Thanks again,

ADS sells one just like Nappers(non Meguiar's brand). I have one, and it works great.

Latex gloves are the way to go
Cheap and will get the job done

What is the best vacuum for dog hair removal? I use a shop vac and it's OK,
but I think I can do better. Dyson makes a pet hair vac, but I was not planning on dropping $500 for a vacuum cleaner!

For upholstery, you can use a large size lint roller and it works very well. Evercare makes one and it has a handle with an extension on it. It does not work as well on carpet hence the need for a good vac. I found the Evercare roller at Meijer's discount store. Other stores may sell it as well and it may be available online. It is way faster than the small lint roller that you would use on clothes.

Duuuude, de-clawing your cat is acceptable, but de-tailing her is just wrong!

I spray the fabric first with ARM & HAMMER pet hair release and deodorant then scrape the fabric with the edge of a tablespoon as i vacuum. It has worked well for me for years.
