I've never had such a dust problem as I did during my spring detailing session this week. I kept the car in the garage throughout (except for the initial wash), and I kept the garage doors closed. I used new yellow Soft Buff 2.0 polishing pads, and they were constantly spitting dust (they seemed to quiet down after I washed them). My new finishing pads didn't seem to dust as much as the polishing pads, for some reason. The polishes I used were M205 and M105.
But it was like my car had become this powerful dust magnet. I was constantly having to blow the dust off the car with my rechargeable blower. Sometimes I would hit the panel with some quick detailer and wipe it off. By the time I was finished polishing, the car was filthy with dust, so I decided to give it an ONR rinse. I then walked into the house to get my bottle of #81, and by the time I had returned to the garage, the car was dusty all over again. I blew off the dust on the hood and began to apply #81. I wiped off the polish and I could see all this dust embedded in the remaining glaze oil, and this time it wouldn't blow off. It was like it was stuck to the paint. So I gave up on #81 and wiped off the hood with my ONR rinse, and applied my wax. And at that point, it was like the dust magnet was turned off. No more dust problem, at least no more than usual. Curioser and curioser. Any ideas? suggestions?
