  • Wheel Duster / Cleaning Wheels

I know there are many threads on this topic, I've searched around. But I just wanted to jump right to it. I wanted a specific answer to a question. I own iForged wheels and I checked on the "Care guide Manual" and it says to use least chemicals as possible (which is what every wheel company probably would perfer so they aren't the blame for a effected wheel).

Here is a quick picture of the wheel so you experts can look at the wheel and know the answer:

Its a 2 pc wheel with a gloss black face with a clear coat and a chrome lip (not polished).

I am a anal person like all of us on this forum about keeping the car clean as well as the wheels.. So my question is will Quik Wheel Detailer be safe for cleaning these type of wheels between washes? I wouldn't want to hurt my wheels at all or eat at the clear coat nor the finish.

Second question, is there a duster that is good for dusting wheels as I am a California Car Duster Fan. I love dusting my car then wiping it down but I am looking for a duster for my wheels then wipe those down after as well.

Thanks alot for the help everyone in advance!

IMO, that stuff is pretty mild so you won't have any problems. As for dusting your rims, you'll probably have more brake dust than regular dust so a quick wipedown with the QWD and a MF would probably be your best bet. Then you can use a gloss/ detail spray to make em pop again.

    Again, IMO.

Thanks for the reply. That is a good idea but is there any kind of duster for brake dust/dust so when I wipe down my wheels my MF Towel doesn't turn black?

might sound like a ***** because of the look of the wheels, but I would put a couple coats of good wax on them, if they are new and you are trying to keep them new.

Yeah I actually have that one and its good but for some reason the duster part keeps sliding off the handle.. not sure why, it seems like maybe its broken but all the ones in the store are like that too.. so I don't know..

I use the interior duster on my wheels, when i'm done driving it (weekend car) so the brake dust does not sit on the wheels. I also use quik wheel detailer, but I must warn you do not let it dry on your wheel. I cleaned my wheels with it before I put the car up for the winter and some got left behind one of the spokes on my wheel and etched the paint on the back side of the rim.
