Well, after my first two day event, I have decided I need a new plan. All I was able to finish was the hood. I washed the car, dried it (did not need to clay as it had just been clayed last week) then did multiple 83 passes and a few 80's. I followed that with another wash to get off all the polishing dust and NXT. The next day I dusted the car off and applied a second coat of NXT. The picture shows the front mainly because that is all I had time to do. It took me a total of 6 hours to do just the hood with the two washes and NXT twice. Four of those hours were spent on the hood using 83 and 80.
So, I have decided to break the rest of the car up into 6 pieces and do each piece by itself each of the next 6 weekends. I also think I might have to go with a straight polishing or compunding pad with 83 versus the orange power pad as it took a long time to see any improvement.
As for the product. I learned a few things (which may be specific to me). First I needed less 80 than 83 to work an area. 83 was harder for me to work with in the sense it was harder to remove and created more dust. After this weekend, I prefer 80, but it was unable to make any noticeable difference by itself so I am resigned to using 83. I like both products very much and the combination made a nice improvement to the car's finish (although it is hard to see the tiny scratches from the pictures, before or after).
So, I will have to see how it looks in about two more months.
