  • A few Newb ?'s

About to order up some supplies and I had a few more questions.

    1) I will be using a PC 7424 (for the first time) to apply M105 and M205 and will follow up with NXT Tech Wax. I was under the impression that the Wax should be applied by hand vs the PC, is this correct?

    2) What size of pads should I be using, the 6.5" or 7" or does it matter?

    3) Should I go over the entire vehicle with the M105? It could certainly use it.

    Thanks

    1. You can apply the wax by hand or PC, and remove by hand or PC. I would certainly at least consider waxing by PC, but it is all personal preferance.

    2. Well, it appears that the orignal G100 (7424) used the Softbuff 1.0 6.5" pads. While the new G110, which has more power, uses the Softbuff 2.0 7" pads. I dont think that is really enough to make a difference, but would be interesting to get other opinions on.

    3. Do you test spots first, so use #205 on an spot first, to see what you need, and to get your technique down.

I personally like to apply wax by hand, but it's user preference with this topic! Try both and see what you think

With my G100 (it's a PC 7335) I didn't have a lot of time to check, but I didn't like the way the 7" pads were working. Now that the new W68DA backing plate is out for the G110/PC et al, it may work better. If you get the new pads, get the new backing plate with it. I hear some whispers that the PC doesn't spin the pads but I haven't seen it yet. I didn't like the way the 7" pad went on my current backing plate (W67DA) and used my old pads instead.

Do a test spot and see if you do need it over the whole car! You may just need it on certain spots if your test spot only requires M205. M105 sure does finish nicely though. Start least aggressive first in your test area!

        1. I always apply LSPs by hand but others have done with the machine... I just feel it's much easier to control how much and where it goes by hand..

        2. 6.5"

        3. If it needs it, yes, but as was said above, do a few test spots in different areas (hood, roof, trunk, doors) and analyze the results... it's better to do a 2-step with M205 twice then M105 then 205 because you'll remove lest paint and have less dust (I'm not sure how much M205 dusts or not but I'm talking about M105 dusting a bit)... just remember to start with the least aggressive combo and move up
