  • Another Thumbs Up for Rick @ ADS!

    Well, in celebration of actually getting a couple of nickels back from the government after filing my taxes I decided to place my first order with Rick @ ADS.

    I completed the online order at roughly 5:10 pm Friday afternoon before leaving work, and by the time I got home after stopping for Miller Time I had an email from UPS telling me the order had shipped! Of course, I forgot he's 3 hours behind me in Arizona

    At any rate, I ordered a six-pack of the soft buff pads (6.5") to go with my new G110 unit, and now I'm not sure whether I wanted these or the new 2.0 7" pads. (I just checked again, looks like the DA kit I ordered comes with some 7" pads)
    I've been reading the search results every chance I get, and basically there's two schools of thought:
    1. The new 7" pads are a slightly more efficient foam formulation, as well as being machine washable. Added flexibility looks like a plus as well; downside looks like power required to turn them.
    2. The "standard" 6.5" pads look like the industry standard, cleanable by hand and well known in terms of performance and limitations.

    I guess my question is this: since I'm having the order sent to a friend in Florida to bring home later this month, should I order a half dozen 2.0 pads & return the 6.5" or leave it the way it is so that I can sample both, since the kit comes with some 2.0s? {Mike, I realize that ultimately I'm tne only one that can make the decision, but I would appreciate some expert advice}

      Personally I like both the 6.5 and 7.0 pads. When I'm using them I don't notice any difference besides the color. I don't even mind washing the 6.5" pads by hand in my garage sink. I do plan to buy the new W68 backing plate when it come out. I believe it will only work with the 7" pads though.

      If you like the idea of throwing your pads in the washing machine to clean them, then I would return the 6.5" pads while you have the chance. Otherwise either one will do the job for you.

      One other thing, if you plan on using a Microfiber bonnet to remove wax you should keep one 6.5" 7006 cutting pad to place the bonnet over.

        Thanks Mike - I kind of realized after I got thinking about it that I would need at least one 6.5" cutting pad as I did order a couple of MF bonnets for wax. I think I'll wait for the packages to arrive and then see which pads I like the best.

        I'm kind of excited about it, (as excited as I get) I'm kind of bummed that I have to wait until the end of the month, but since I'm in Canada I'm at the mercy of my travelling friends .

        It's been an interesting process so far, I traded by truck 4 months back because it was a) a standard and b) I couldn't do the black justice. Although I feel like I got a new lease on life (no pun intended) after reading this board daily for that same period I'd like another shot at the black! It's almost like an addiction...
