  • UQD/135 over NXT/21

    Quick Question,

Will wiping down the car with UQD/135 over NXT/21 directly after application of wax mess up the wax. I thought I heard you were not supposed to let the wax get wet otherwise it messes up the polymers bonding, but on the other hand I heard that UQD/135 boosts the polymers?

    Thanks

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

It won't necessarily mess up the layer of wax, but it does inhibit the bonding of the synthetic polymers to the paint. A good rule of thumb is to wait 12 hours before applying either a second coat of wax or a quik detailer.

Basically any kind of liquid touching the surface will inhibit the bonding. The 12 hour rule is generous though. The polymers might bond in 6 minutes, 6 hours, or 12 hours. Who knows? It's just a generous estimation. Most detailers will wait about 30 minutes after wiping off the first layer of wax before applying a second coat.

Regular maintainence with UQD/UQW over NXT gives you long lasting protection that will be maintained for months. Hope this helps.

and UQD/135 is more of a polymer booster rather than a cleaner right? m34 would be a better cleaner correct?

I think given the price, UQD would be a very very light cleaner. I'm not saying it doesn't clean well, I'm saying that I wouldn't use it as a heavy cleaner. I'd use the normal Quik Detailer for that. Since UQW(ax) is out though, I would use that as a polymer/wax booster after washing and UQD is now in the back pocket of my drivers seat with a microfiber if I ever need to touch anything up on the go.

In the Mirror Glaze line, a more comparable product to UQD is the Synthetic Spray Detailer. Last Touch and Final Inspection would be good cleaning quik detailers. I only have experience with the consumer line though, I'm just going off of an educated guess.

So does UQW add as much gloss as UQD? or would it make sense to UQW then follow it with UQD?
