So up to now I've generally found myself frustrated by the fact that no matter what I do, I could never get rid of swirls for the most part.
I've tried the PC, now the G110 and even thought about the flex.
I've done #83, mothers power polish and of course all kinds of wax, now I feel like this morning I rounded a corner..
Instead of seeing how quickly I could get my truck done (2006 Dodge Dakota Offroad, flame red), using Ultimate Compound and a yellow megs pad, G110 on 5, I FORCED myself to slow down.
1-2" per second, left right on a panel, then up and down checkerboard, then at angles. For instance a door took me about maybe 10 minutes. I kept having to get after myself to SLOW DOWN.
The hood took maybe 30 minutes, maybe a bit more, the whole truck took about 3 hrs , I did not do below the door molding. Do you guys do the rocker panel part when doing swirl removal? I did swirlX on the roof the other day and it looks pretty good.
I then fired up the twin 500watt halogen work lamp stand and held it over the hood, swirls 95% gone I'd say. Doors, 95%+ gone. What is left are some very small straight-line RIDS. I plan on going over them at a later time, as I have two more cars to get cleaned up while the weather has a break from raining every other day
Even the sore thumb fine scratch down the back of the tailgate is BARELY perceptible and only if you know where it is.
I think forcing myself to SLOW DOWN (probably told myself 30-40 times while doing the truck) and the UC/SWX helped me achieve something I've not gotten to in about 4 years of being a novice with a buffer.
No pics yet, I have to put on a LSP tonight, but just feeling kinda good about how it looks , and that maybe I might be able to start getting some reliable results that are pleasing to me.
Just wanted to babble, thanks for reading.
