Friend needs to narrow down a list a people who did this.

Here in KY, this involves visiting people with handy baseball bat.

I think I'm safe in saying she can probably within a few moments come up with a few people that dislike her this much. Usually this kind of damage isn't just random, especially when her name is one of the inflictions.

And a word of advice from someone that has worked on cars after a repaint.

Make sure that the paint shop sands all the way down past the bottom of the scratches. A friend of mine had his VW Jetta vandalized the same way. Scratches on every surface. The paint shop just roughed up the surface and shot on the color and cleared it. It took about a year before the scratches started to show through the paint. You couldn't actually see the scratch, just the outline of where it had been. The new paint had started to shrink down into the scratches and boy did it look terrible.

I was just thinking about that as well - that the metal should be examined well to avoid having any scratches show up faintly in the refinished product.

If Canadian insurance policies are anything like the US, your friend shouldn't have to worry about an increase in her insurance.
You are so correct on that. I know the thread is called an April Fool's Prank but this goes way beyond that. Plus the car is leased? I wonder how much will the dealership charge if you brought the car back like that?

In California it would be a felony if the damage is $400 or more and the person has a prior conviction for vandalism, then you could be facing a vandalism felony with jail time and restitution plus fines.

The car is I think a Ford Taurus or a Fusion...

They already called the police and she's a high school student.. I'm guessing enemies and ex-boyfriends??
