Hi All:
I am new to the forum here and will be purchasing a PC soon. I’ll be practicing on a few cars (that’s what friends are for) before I start on the vehicle I am really interested in bring to it’s max potential, my red 1968 Camaro Convertible.
The car is basically a show/cruise night car and I have never used anything but Meguiars #7 followed by #26 by hand. However I just changed over from #26 to NXT by hand. Definitely an improvement – gives a great wet look. The car has incredible shine and depth and looks absolutely perfect in shade or in the early evening but in full sun, there are swirls that are very noticeable. Not tons of them, but they are there. I’m thinking the swirls are partly from the prior owner (whatever it was he did) and partly from my stupidity in using second rate towels. (only 100% cotton and micro fibers from now on).
Basically, I’m looking for suggestions on a process that I can go through with the PC to get rid of the swirls while keeping (and even enhancing if possible) the gloss and depth of the paint. I’ve noticed a popular combo was #82 followed by #81 followed by NXT.
Does everyone think this will eliminate the light swirls I have? Should I incorporate #7 somewhere in there? That is the best product I have ever used and I hate to give it up. Makes my red car look incredible.
Any thoughts, opinions would certainly be helpful.
If necessary, I could post some current photos so someone with some experience could evaluate things for me…
Mike – I saw the process you did on the red Ferrari using only #80 followed by NXT – very impressive. Maybe that’s the way to go??
Confused…
Thanks very much
