  • I got a brand new BLACK car +scratches

I got a brand new BLACK car recently. Told the dealer not to prep it. They didn't, but screwed up anyway, they ran the car through the car wash, not laser wash as I can see, because after very close examination I discovered some small scratches here and there, on the hood, fenders, trunk lid. I am probably getting a little paranoid with this, but want to fix it as soon as I can. I have these products in my possession right now: M105, M83, deep crystal polish, colorX and NXT 2.0 wax. After having the car washed again I tried some M83, then colorX and finished with NXT 2.0 wax. Here is the problem I ran into. After having applied M83 ( with Porter Cable) I can see lots of small tiny scratches on the paint, and it gets a little dull from it. Maybe this is too aggressive? Please, advise on what steps to take or maybe I need to buy/try some different products?
BTW, I know some folks with black cars prefer Gold Class wax over NXT, do you think I should try it after fixin the scratches issue?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Welcome to Meguiars Online!!
It depends on how bad the swirls and scratches are.
Any of those products should be fine.
I would also clay the car before doing that.
Then 2 Coats of NXT 2.0
    Good Luck!!

Re: I got a brand new BLACK car +scratches

are the scratches swirls or deeper scratches?
It may also be because the above contaminants were not removed, causing light scratches in the process of your cleaning step with the M83.. so I think it would be best to clay a brand new car, because you never know how long or where your car has been sitting just waiting for the owner to pick up.

I think its a personal preference concerning the wax of either GC or NXT 2.0..
some like the Gold Class because it deepens the colour, others like NXT 2.0 because it gives a more reflective look, they both have their advantages.
But since you got NXT 2.0, why not just use that first instead of having to buy another wax again :]..
and like Carfire said: Put 2 coats of NXT 2.0 ..
and show the results to us :]

      good luck.. hehe

do you guys think I should use Clay bar + M83 + Deep crystal polish + 2 coats of NXt or stick with the ColorX after M83?

Do a test spot with ColorX and see if it removes them, use a yellow foam polishing pad on the 5.0 setting.

If you don't mind adding another product to your collection and you haven't tried SwirlX yet, then pick up a bottle of this and take it for a test drive using the same type of pad and speed. It finishes out to very clear, high gloss surface perfect for applying wax.

SwirlX is much easier to work with than M83, worth trying just for ease of use.

Mostly do a test spot and see how aggressive you have to get to remove the scratches, then once you dial in a successful process do this over the entire car.

I clayed it today and use M105 by hand for deeper scratches and SwirlX with PC for everything else. SwirlX seems to work lot better than ColorX in my case. Does not clog the foam pad and smells great too.
