  • Clear Bumper Guards

    Hello All,

I am new here to the Forum... Hi..

I just purchased a 2007 M35 and it is very clean, no scratches on the bumper and I would like to keep it that way. Some have suggested that I put bumper shields on it but from what I have seen they don't seem to block all the scratches and i do not like the way it makes the car look.

I saw ad's for Clear Bumper and am interested in trying it but don't want to go the DIY route.

Any recommendations? I am in the New York CIty area

If you're talking about a clear bra then yes it does 'block' all the scratches/swirl marks but will indeed get the swirlmarks itself... main purpose is to keep the paint from rock damage and not to prevent swirl marks, etc.

Thanks... This forum is so very informative. I have been reading posts for a while but now have decided to actually post something.

I just got off the phone with the service department of Infiniti and they want ...$450.00 just to apply the clear bra to the back bumper alone!

875 to do the front and back! I think I better learn how to do this myself, or find someone that can do it for a bit less.

Don't expect to pay much less for a quality job... I have a local guy to who I send clients and his average price is $600-700 or so for front side only (part of hood, bumper and fenders)

I'm wondering, do these bras allow for light to pass through them and affect the paint like uncoated parts of the car? It seems that when you take off the bra, you would have a really good section of paint surronded by faded paint. Anyone have experience with this?

They do block some UV rays and therefore the paint around the clear bra will look more dull/faded than under it after some time... no matter how well you maintain the paint around the bra, it will start looking different eventually

I honestly would not get any bra. They are ugly and cause more problems such as paint fading, appearance, cleaning them, Swirls/Scratches on them, etc.

A Clear one would even be more ugly because it would oxidize, fog up from condensation, get swirls, and it would show dirt trapped under it.

Just care for you paint as much as possible. Unless you are always on the highway, I don't suggest one.

I wish that were an option for me. Here in New York City, people ALWAYS bump into your bumper when they are trying to parallel park. You can garage the car over night but at some point it is left on the street.

The sight of deep gashes and scratches on the bumpers is horrible.

Well then, I would probably just get black ones. I have never seen clear before. You may want to get some then
